About us

We are not a traditional accounting practice. We are a small Canadian CPA firm acting as fractional CFO and financial reporting team for publicly traded junior mining and exploration companies. Our people do industry-style work — owning files end to end, the way an in-house controller would — with the variety that comes from a multi-client practice.

The team is lean and the standard is high: four staff accountants carry files from bookkeeping through draft financial statements, and the firm's Principal (a CPA) performs final review before anything reaches auditors or regulators. Flexibility and family are treated as seriously here as filing deadlines and premier client service — that balance is a big part of why our work gets done well.

Due to growth, we are hiring a CPA manager to be the technical reviewer and day-to-day leader of our accounting team.

The role

You are the quality gate. Files reach the Principal clean because you reviewed them first — lead sheets, working papers, reconciliations, and draft financial statements that foot, cross-cast, and tie out, with disclosure that holds up at audit. You will manage, coach, and develop our four staff accountants, run the review process, and own month-end close checklists and working-paper standards across the team.

Your files will be IFRS reporting for junior mining and exploration issuers — exploration and evaluation expenditures, flow-through financings, share capital transactions, warrants and stock options, and related-party transactions — and you will act as audit liaison at year-end, with technical issues flagged to the Principal before final review, not discovered at it.

What this role is not

Billing, collections,

and client, CEO, and board relationships stay with the Principal. This is a technical-review and team-leadership role — not a business-development role, and not a client-ownership role.

Our ideal candidate

- Holds a Canadian CPA designation, ideally with a Big 4 foundation

- Has 4+ years of progressively responsible experience in public practice or with a publicly traded company, with a significant focus on financial reporting under IFRS

- Takes genuine pride in work that is correct — an unreconciled balance or a schedule that doesn't tie is not something you can leave alone

- Is exceptionally detail-oriented and organized, and works well under the pressure of public-company reporting deadlines

- Has strong project and people management skills, including supervising and developing staff across several files at once

- Gives clear, direct feedback and communicates just as clearly in writing

- Is technologically robust — hands-on with QuickBooks Online and/or Xero; Caseware an asset

- Knows mining and exploration reporting, or wants to: flow-through shares, E&E; accounting, and TSX-V/NI 51-102 deadlines (mining experience is a major plus, not a prerequisite)

Compensation

We offer a base salary of $105,000, plus an annual bonus opportunity, paid vacation and sick time, extended health benefits, and CPA dues covered.

How to apply

Send your CV and a brief note on your review experience — what you look for when you review a junior's file — to [email protected]. Shortlisted candidates will complete a paid review exercise on a sample working-paper file before interviews.

Pay: $105,000.00 per year

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Vancouver, BC
