Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Sandy Hill Community Health Centre | Ottawa, Ontario
About Sandy Hill Community Health Centre
For more than 50 years, Sandy Hill Community Health Centre (SHCHC) has been bringing health care and community together. As a community-governed, not-for-profit organization, we believe that good health is about more than treating illness. It is also about addressing the social, economic and systemic barriers that affect people's health and well-being.
Through a broad range of interdisciplinary primary health care, mental health and substance use services, health promotion, harm reduction, community development and social supports, SHCHC serves individuals and families from diverse backgrounds, with particular attention to those experiencing barriers to care. Guided by our values of integrity, respect, equity, collaboration and empathy, we are committed to delivering accessible, compassionate and person-centred services that respond to the evolving needs of our community.
At the heart of our organization is a dedicated and diverse team of professionals who bring expertise, compassion and a deep commitment to the people and communities we serve. Our vision is simple but powerful: everyone in our community will have equitable access to health and well-being.
The Opportunity
With the planned retirement of our current CEO, the Board of Directors is seeking an accomplished, compassionate and team-oriented leader to guide SHCHC into its next chapter.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will provide strategic and operational leadership to a complex, multidisciplinary organization, building on its longstanding strengths while positioning it to respond effectively to changing community needs, health system priorities and funding realities.
The successful candidate will combine a strong understanding of community-based health and social services with demonstrated expertise in organizational leadership, financial stewardship, human resources and governance. Equally important will be the ability to inspire and support a diverse workforce, foster a healthy and inclusive organizational culture, strengthen partnerships, and champion high-quality, equitable services for the community.
We are seeking a leader who is visible, approachable and grounded in the Centre's values; someone who listens, builds trust, respects the expertise of others and brings sound judgment, accountability and decisiveness to complex challenges. The next CEO will recognize the importance of preserving what makes SHCHC special while working collaboratively with staff,
the Board and community partners to shape a sustainable and successful future.
This is an opportunity to lead an established and respected community health organization where thoughtful leadership, strong relationships and a commitment to social justice can make a meaningful difference.
SHCHC welcomes applications from qualified internal and external candidates who share our values and are inspired by the opportunity to advance the health and well-being of the communities we serve.
