Title: Healthcare Security Guard

Employment Type: Contract

Pay Rate: $18.35 - $22.50 per hour

Site: Northumberland Hills Hospital, Loyalist College-Port Hope, Campbellford Memorial Hospital, North Hastings Hospital

Schedule: Various shifts available (Day: 07:00-19:00, Night: 19:00-07:00). Candidates must have flexible availability to work two to three 12-hour shifts per week and be comfortable cross-training at multiple facilities.

Site Overview

Located approximately 100 kilometres east of Toronto, these healthcare facilities deliver a broad range of acute, post-acute, outpatient, and diagnostic services to the community. Services include emergency and intensive care, medical/surgical care, obstetrics, palliative care, and restorative rehabilitation. Healthcare security guards play a critical role in maintaining a safe, calm, and supportive environment for healthcare staff, patients, and visitors across all locations.

What You'll Be Doing

- Conduct proactive interior and exterior security patrols across hospital grounds, including during inclement weather.

- Respond to security incidents promptly, maintaining composure during emergencies and utilizing verbal de-escalation and conflict management techniques.

- Investigate routine incidents and complete detailed, clear, and accurate incident and end-of-shift reports.

- Enforce parking rules, smoking regulations, site bylaws, and facility policies.

- Work collaboratively with client staff, site leadership, and Paladin management to support daily operational needs.

- Sit or stand for up to 12 hours per shift while remaining alert and responsive.

Must Haves

- Valid Ontario Security Guard License.





- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR Level C Certificate from a WSIB-approved provider.

- Legal authorization to work in Canada.

- Fluent English communication skills (written and spoken).

- Ability to clear a Vulnerable Sector Check during onboarding.

- Proof of a minimum of two COVID-19 vaccinations.

- Complete immunization records (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and 2-step TB skin test).

- Ability to be clean-shaven to pass an N95 Mask Fit Test.

- Availability to complete mandatory onboarding and training with Paladin in Kingston.

Nice-to-Haves

- 6+ months of customer service experience.

- Pre-requisite certifications in Use of Force (UoF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB). Note: Applicants without these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to onboarding. Paladin covers all training costs in exchange for a 6-month commitment to the position.
