Review complex building plans in Newmarket using Ontario Building Code expertise, including HVAC and plumbing systems. This is regular full-time municipal employment.

Reporting to the Chief Building Official, the Plans Examiner reviews applications, drawings, submissions, and inquiries for every building type. The position supports secure construction throughout Newmarket while guiding complex application reviews. It also provides expert assistance to Building Division staff and maintains departmental procedures for complex plans.

Key Responsibilities:

- Review and approve permit applications and construction drawings
- Issue permits and respond to submission inquiries
- Assess HVAC and plumbing systems for large buildings
- Maintain procedures for complex application and plan reviews




- Provide expert support to Building Division staff

Requirements:

- Community college diploma in architectural or engineering technology
- Progressive municipal experience in construction and plan interpretation
- Extensive Ontario Building Code and Building Code Act knowledge
- Successful Ministry qualification examinations and maintained qualifications
- Class G licence, vehicle, and acceptable insurance coverage
