Position summary

The Takeout Associate coordinates takeout and delivery orders from receipt through pickup. This role takes orders, processes payments, checks and packages meals, and communicates with guests, delivery drivers and the kitchen. Working closely with the front of house and kitchen teams, the Takeout Associate helps ensure orders are accurate, securely packaged and ready within the communicated pickup time.

Key responsibilities

- Welcome takeout guests and delivery drivers promptly and provide courteous, effective service
- Take orders, confirm order details and enter them accurately in the point-of-sale system
- Monitor online ordering systems and delivery platform tablets, acknowledge incoming orders and follow procedures for submitting them to the kitchen
- Learn PAI’s menu, including ingredients, spice levels, available modifications and packaging requirements, to answer questions accurately
- Confirm food allergies and dietary restrictions,



record requests clearly and verify modifications with the kitchen or manager before confirming an order
- Provide realistic pickup-time estimates based on kitchen direction and update guests or delivery drivers when delays occur
- Coordinate with the kitchen to track order progress, communicate changes and resolve missing or incorrect items
- Check completed orders against tickets for item counts, modifications, accompanying sauces and other required components
- Follow procedures for identifying and separately packaging allergy-related orders, and confirm any uncertainty with the kitchen or manager
- Package food in the appropriate containers to maintain quality, prevent spills and keep hot and cold items separate as required
- Label orders clearly and include utensils, napkins, condiments and other items according to restaurant procedures and guest requests
- Seal delivery orders as required and organize completed orders in the designated pickup area
- Verify the guest’s name or delivery order number before handing over an order to the correct person
- Process payments accurately, confirm prepaid orders and follow cash handling and reconciliation procedures
- Refer refunds, cancellations, complaints and delivery platform issues to the Service Manager when approval or additional support is required
- Monitor packaging, utensils and condiment supplies, replenish the station and communicate shortages promptly
- Keep takeout counters, pickup areas, shelving, payment devices and assigned equipment clean and organized
- Follow food safety, hygiene and order-holding procedures, and report food quality or temperature concerns promptly
- Complete opening and closing checklists, assigned side duties,



scheduled team meetings and required training
- Communicate respectfully with colleagues, report hazards or equipment faults promptly, and perform other related duties as assigned by the Service Manager or management

Qualifications and skills

- Previous takeout, cashier, restaurant or customer service experience is required
- Strong guest service skills and a courteous, professional approach in person and over the telephone
- Ability to learn and explain menu items, ingredients, spice levels and available modifications accurately
- Attention to detail when taking orders, checking meals, packaging food and processing payments
- Experience using point-of-sale systems, payment terminals or delivery platforms is an asset
- Ability to organize multiple orders, track pickup times and prioritize tasks during busy periods
- Understanding of safe food handling, sanitation and allergy precautions
- Clear communication and the ability to coordinate effectively with kitchen staff, guests and delivery drivers
- Ability to follow order details, packaging standards and opening and closing checklists accurately
- Reliability, punctuality and a positive, respectful approach to teamwork
- Openness to feedback and learning PAI’s menus, systems and procedures

Schedule and working conditions

- Part-time. Weekly hours may vary based on operational needs. A set number of hours is not guaranteed
- Comfortable working evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Work is performed on site in a busy restaurant with noise, crowded pickup areas and changing service demands
- Duties involve standing and walking for extended periods, repetitive packaging tasks, reaching, bending and lifting or carrying takeout orders and supplies, with accommodation where required
