Accounts Payable and General Accountant

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Accounts Payable and General Accountant is a hands-on role responsible for the end-to-end accounts payable function and day-to-day bookkeeping across CMI's group of entities, including multiple MIC funds and private lending vehicles. This individual will own invoice processing, payment runs, and vendor reconciliations, while also supporting broader general accounting activities such as inter-company transactions, accruals, and bank reconciliations.

The successful candidate brings a detail-oriented, organized approach, a positive and curious attitude toward technology (including AI tools), and the ability to manage a high volume of transactional work with accuracy and timeliness. This role works closely with the Finance Manager and the broader finance team, particularly during month-end close.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounts Payable

● Own the end-to-end accounts payable process — from invoice receipt and coding through to approvals, payment runs and vendor reconciliations — ensuring accuracy and timeliness across all CMI entities.

● Review all AP invoices, verifying proper authorization and matching purchase orders where applicable, and resolve discrepancies directly with vendors and internal stakeholders.

● Prepare and execute weekly and bi-weekly payment batches (EFT, wire, cheque) with full supporting documentation and payment confirmations.

● Reconcile vendor statements and maintain aging reports, escalating outstanding items and working proactively to clear balances.

● Maintain a tidy and audit-ready AP subledger, supporting external auditors and internal reviewers as required.

General Accounting & Close

● Perform day-to-day bookkeeping across multiple legal entities, including MIC funds and private lending vehicles, posting journals and keeping the general ledger current.





● Record inter-company transactions accurately and assist with monthly inter-entity eliminations and reconciliations.

● Post accruals, prepayments, and adjusting entries at period-end, ensuring all liabilities are captured and reported correctly.

● Assist with bank and other general ledger reconciliations across all accounts, investigating and resolving reconciling items promptly.

● Contribute to month-end and quarter-end close by meeting deadlines, coordinating with the broader finance team, and flagging issues early.

Analysis & Support

● Track and analyze invoices against budget categories and prepare category-level variance analysis.

● Support with ad hoc reporting, analysis, and process improvement initiatives as the finance function continues to scale.

● Perform other general accounting duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

● Familiarity with the Oracle NetSuite Accounts Payable module.

● Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a similar accounts payable or general accounting role.

● Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with general working knowledge of other Microsoft Office programs (Word, Outlook).

● General tech-savviness and a positive attitude toward technology, including AI tools.

● An inquisitive, curious nature and strong tech aptitude, with the ability to self-learn new platforms and processes (adequate resources and support are provided).

● Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage own time and work effectively in a collaborative, dynamic environment.

● High degree of accuracy and attention to detail when handling transactional and financial data.

Pay: $75,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
