Sante St. Joseph Health is seeking a knowledgeable and collaborative Policy/Privacy Advisor to lead privacy, policy governance, information management, and freedom of information activities across our sites and affiliated entities.

The Policy/Privacy Advisor serves as the organization’s designated Privacy Officer, Freedom of Information Coordinator, and Policy Coordinator. The Advisor provides expert guidance and operational support to ensure organizational practices align with applicable legislation, accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices.

Working collaboratively with leaders, physicians, staff, and external partners, the Advisor identifies risks, develops practical solutions, and builds organizational knowledge and capacity.

Key Responsibilities

Privacy and Information Governance

- Lead the organization’s privacy program, including policy development, education, audits, compliance monitoring, and reporting.
- Provide expert advice on the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA), Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), and related requirements.
- Conduct privacy impact assessments and risk assessments, investigate suspected privacy breaches, and coordinate corrective actions and required reporting.
- Coordinate requests for access, correction, disclosure, and release of personal health information.
- Collaborate with Information Technology and operational leaders to support appropriate access to electronic records and information systems.

Policy and Records Management





- Lead the policy governance framework and coordinate policy development, approval, implementation, and review processes across all sites.
- Support leaders and committees in developing clear, evidence-informed policies aligned with legislation, accreditation standards, and organizational priorities.
- Administer the electronic policy management system, M-Files, and associated document repositories.
- Oversee records retention and disposition processes and support accreditation readiness and continuous quality improvement.

Freedom of Information

- Coordinate and process freedom of information requests within legislated timelines.
- Review records, apply applicable exemptions, coordinate consultations, and prepare fee assessments, correspondence, and decision letters.
- Manage access-related complaints and support organizational responses to appeals, investigations, and regulatory proceedings.
- Monitor legislative developments and advise leadership on compliance obligations and emerging risks.

Qualifications

- Undergraduate degree in Health Administration, Public Administration, Law, Health Information Management, Business, Research Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in privacy, information governance, policy development, freedom of information administration, healthcare compliance, or a related field.
- Experience interpreting and applying PHIPA, FIPPA, and related legislation.
- Experience conducting investigations, privacy impact assessments, risk assessments, and policy reviews.
- Experience in healthcare, long-term care, community health, or the public sector.
- Privacy or health information management certification, such as CIPP/C, CHIMA certification, or equivalent, is preferred.

Pay: $58,977.80-$73,722.25 per year
