St. Thomas
Ground. Practical. Built for the real world.
We do civil engineering - the kind that makes sites work. Grading that drains properly. Servicing that connects cleanly. Designs that hold up once they hit the field.
We’re looking for a Civil Engineering Technologist with hands-on experience in civil drafting and a curiosity to learn more. Whether your background is in land development, municipal infrastructure, or site servicing, we're interested in someone who takes pride in turning engineering concepts into clear, coordinated, buildable drawings.
You'll work alongside experienced engineers and technologists on a variety of site development projects, building your skills, contributing ideas, and taking on new challenges as you grow.
If you like solving real-world problems, working through site constraints with a team, and seeing your work come to life you’ll fit right in.
[ mission for this role ]
In your first year at co-elevate, you will become a valued contributor to our civil team—building on your Civil 3D experience, preparing accurate and coordinated drawings, and developing your technical skills in site grading, drainage, and servicing. You'll take ownership of your work, learn from experienced collaborators, and grow your confidence and capabilities while helping deliver thoughtful, practical civil engineering solutions.
[ what we're looking for ]
- Minimum 1 year of professional civil drafting experience, ideally involving grading, drainage, municipal servicing, or land development.
- Practical experience using Civil 3D and AutoCAD to prepare and revise engineering drawings.
- Familiarity with grading, drainage, and municipal servicing principles (storm, sanitary, and water).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and understand how different elements of a project come together.
- Solid attention to detail and pride in producing accurate, well-organized work.
- Able to take ownership of assigned tasks while knowing when to ask questions or seek guidance.
- A curious problem-solver who enjoys learning, exploring new ideas, and finding simpler ways to get things done.
- A strong communicator who collaborates well with teammates and welcomes feedback.
- Excited to work in-office in St Thomas, London or Kitchener with flexibility when needed.
[ bonus points for]
- Experience preparing grading, drainage, or servicing drawings for residential, commercial, institutional, or municipal projects.
- Familiarity with Ontario municipal standards and site plan approval processes.
- Experience working with Civil 3D surfaces, grading tools, or pipe networks.
- Interest in automation, technology, or improving how engineering work gets done.
[ a day in the life of a civil technologist at co-elevate]
- Prepare and update civil engineering drawings using Civil 3D and AutoCAD, working alongside experienced engineers and technologists.
- Support site development projects through the preparation of grading, drainage, and servicing drawings (storm, sanitary, and water).
- Develop and maintain Civil 3D surfaces, models, profiles, and drawing details.
- Incorporate engineering markups and revisions into accurate, coordinated drawing packages.
- Collaborate with engineers and other disciplines to identify drawing conflicts, site constraints, and practical solutions.
- Participate in drawing reviews,
share ideas, and look for opportunities to simplify and improve how we work.
- A daily break for a game of table tennis, hitting the Golf Sim (London), or adding to the ongoing puzzle is always welcomed.
- Attend one of co-elevate's group events such as potlucks, lunch & learns, book club, etc.
- Participate in one of co-elevate's charity causes such as blood drives, toy drives, food drives, or seasonal in-house charity events.
- Participate in occasional site visits to see how designs come together in the field.
- At the end of a long day, it is commonplace for our leadership to send collaborators home to ensure work-life balance.
[ benefits ]
- Competitive salary and profit sharing
- Competitive health, dental, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage
- Flexible vacation with minimum four weeks paid time off
- RRSP matching
- Regular team building and social activities
- Reimbursements of annual dues for professional organization
- A team that genuinely cares
