Lotus Kitchen & Bar is a modern Asian fusion restaurant located in downtown Halifax. Our kitchen focuses on East Asian flavours, including noodle dishes, stir-fry, small plates, and high-volume dinner service.
We are looking for a reliable and motivated Line Cook to join our kitchen team. This role is best suited for someone with previous line cook experience, good kitchen discipline, and the ability to work smoothly with a team during busy service. Applicants must currently live in Halifax/HRM or be willing and able to relocate to Halifax before their start date. This is an in-person position.
Position: Line Cook
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook menu items according to restaurant recipes and standards
- Work on the hot line and support daily kitchen service
- Assist with prep work, restocking, and station setup
- Maintain consistent food quality, portioning, and presentation
- Keep workstations clean, organized, and ready for service
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards
- Communicate clearly with cooks, prep staff, and front-of-house team members
- Operate or support the wok station safely and efficiently during service
Requirements:
- Previous line cook experience required
- Must currently live in Halifax/HRM or be willing and able to relocate to Halifax before starting work
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen setting
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Reliable, responsible, and able to follow instructions
- Good sense of organization and timing during service
- At least 1 year of hands-on qualified Asian wok cooking experience in a commercial restaurant kitchen is required
- This means actual wok-station cooking experience using high heat for stir-frying; it does not mean general work experience
- Food Handler Certification is an asset
