About the role

We're looking for an experienced software developer to build and maintain the applications, integration and automation that keep our Woodbridge plant running.

You'll connect plant systems and manufacturing equipment to our AS400 ERP and cloud services, automate manual work, and turn plant data into reporting that leadership can act on. You'll work onsite, close to the production floor, so you can see the problems you're solving first-hand.

You'll also be the plant's technology lead. A small Site-Support team handles day-to-day user support, and you'll oversee that work and step in on major incidents. Expect roughly 70% of your time on development and automation and 30% on site technology leadership.

What you'll do

Software development and integration (about 70%)

- Design, build and maintain plant applications, integrations and automation, mainly in Progress 4GL, C#/.NET and SQL.
- Integrate plant systems and manufacturing equipment with our AS400 ERP and cloud services.
- Build and maintain applications that let manufacturing machines and components communicate with each other and with central systems.
- Write scripts and small tools that remove manual work, improve data quality and cut repetitive support tickets.
- Automate device provisioning, patching, reporting and routine maintenance tasks.
- Use Git for version control and set up CI/CD pipelines so changes are tested, traceable and easy to roll back.
- Plan and lead testing, deployment and rollback for every application change, scheduled around production.
- Build queries, dashboards and reports that give plant leadership clear data on KPIs and downtime.
- Document what you build in SOPs and runbooks, and share reusable components and standards with Plant Technology teams at other sites.

Site technology leadership (about 30%)

- Oversee the plant's Site-Support team, who handle day-to-day user support,

ServiceNow tickets and SLAs.
- Act as the main technology contact between plant management and central IT, and lead the response to major incidents.
- Make sure critical systems have tested backups, documented recovery steps, UPS protection, and tracked end-of-life hardware and software.
- Keep user access in Active Directory and Okta secure through periodic access reviews.
- Coordinate plant technology projects such as network and Wi-Fi upgrades, scanner replacements and site rollouts.
- Take part in Production Gemba Walks and SQDCI meetings, and turn what you see into automation opportunities.
- Mentor plant staff and the Site-Support team on new tools and better ways of working.

What you bring

Required

- 5+ years of professional software development, building and supporting applications used in production.
- Strong, hands-on skills in Progress 4GL, C#/.NET and SQL.
- Experience integrating systems, such as connecting an ERP to other applications, databases or cloud services.
- Working knowledge of Git and CI/CD, including testing, deploying and rolling back changes.
- A portfolio, Git repository, or written examples of at least two systems or tools you built and what they achieved.
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Solid assets

- Experience with AS400 (IBM i) and/or Progress 4GL.
- Experience in manufacturing, plant or industrial environment, including connecting to shop-floor equipment.
- Python, Java or VB.

- Power BI or similar reporting tools.
- Familiarity with ServiceNow, Active Directory, Okta, networking, CCTV and access control systems.

How you work

- You explain technical work in plain language to plant leaders and operators.
- You prioritize well and work independently.
- You enjoy coaching others and sharing what you build.

How we'll measure success

- Automation impact: a 20 to 40% reduction in repetitive tickets and manual tasks within your first 12 months.
- Delivery: applications and integrations shipped on time, tested, documented and handed over with SOPs.
- Reliability: stable releases with clear rollback plans and minimal production disruption.
- Site support: the Site-Support team meets ServiceNow SLA targets for incidents and requests.

Good to know

- This role is onsite at our Woodbridge plant, with occasional travel to other plants.
- You'll need a valid driver's license.
- You'll be available for major incidents or critical deployments outside normal hours when needed.
- You'll follow JELD-WEN EH&S; policies and plant safety rules.

How to apply

Please include your resume and a link to your portfolio or Git repository. If your work is private, a short description of two systems you built, the technologies you used and the results they delivered is just as good.
