Our client is seeking a highly experienced and influential Principal Transportation Engineer to lead their transportation planning and design division in Kimberley . This senior position involves overseeing the development and execution of strategic transportation projects, including road network planning, traffic engineering, and public transport infrastructure. You will be responsible for mentoring a team of engineers, managing key client relationships, and driving technical excellence across all projects. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of transportation engineering principles, a proven track record of leadership, and a deep understanding of the specific transportation challenges and opportunities within the Northern Cape province, contributing to regional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, design, and implementation of complex transportation infrastructure projects.
- Develop transportation models and conduct traffic impact assessments for recent developments.
- Oversee the design of road geometry, intersection design, and traffic management systems.
- Manage project teams, budgets, and client expectations,
ensuring successful project delivery.
- Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers.
- Contribute to business development and proposal preparation efforts for new projects.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Transportation Engineering or a related field.
- Professional registration with ECSA as a Pr. Eng is essential.
- A minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in transportation engineering, with significant leadership responsibility.
- Expertise in traffic analysis software (e.g., VISSIM, SIDRA) and transport modeling platforms.
- In-depth understanding of road design standards and traffic engineering principles.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and strategic thinking skills.
