Freelance Model & On-Camera Talent – Hotel & Food Social Content

Location: St. John's (on-site at our property) | Type: Freelance / Contract | Pay: $100–$300 per full day

About us

We're a lifestyle hotel group operating various properties across Canada, including a hotel in St. John's. Our hotels are known for thoughtful design, great food and drink, and genuine local hospitality. Our employer name will be shared with shortlisted candidates.

We're building a roster of St. John's-based models and on-camera talent to star in the short-form content our creators shoot for Instagram, TikTok and our other social channels. We're looking for real, relatable people who look natural on camera and make viewers want to check in, sit down and stay a while.

The role

This is a freelance, per-shoot role. You'll appear in vertical photo and video content shot on iPhone at our property, working with our content creators and following a creative brief. We're casting for two types of talent. Apply for one or both:

- Models / Lifestyle Talent (non-speaking): playing guests checking in, enjoying the room, dining, having drinks at the bar, relaxing at the [pool / spa / lounge] and exploring the neighbourhood.
- On-Camera Hosts / Presenters (speaking): talking directly to camera for room tours, menu and cocktail features, "what's new at the hotel" updates, local guides and voice-overs.

What you'll do

- Appear in short-form vertical (9:16) content for Reels, TikTok, Stories and feed posts, shot on iPhone.
- Take direction from our creator or producer: hit your marks, repeat takes, and give natural, unforced reactions.
- Bring social-first energy: strong openings in the first 1–2 seconds, POV and "day in the life" formats, trend-based concepts and candid moments.
- Hosts: deliver short scripted lines or talking points to camera, and improvise naturally when needed.




- Follow the wardrobe and styling brief so every shoot matches our brand look and feel.
- Arrive on time and camera-ready (hair and makeup done yourself).
- Be comfortable eating and tasting on camera. We'll accommodate dietary needs, and drinking alcohol on camera is never required.
- Work respectfully around hotel guests and busy teams, keeping disruption to a minimum.

What we're looking for

- A portfolio of recent photos or video of yourself. Social accounts, a website, a comp card or a shared folder are all fine.
- 18 years or older (19 or older for any scenes featuring alcohol).
- A natural, relatable, warm presence on camera. Real people, not just polished poses.
- An understanding of how social content feels: vertical framing, talking to a phone camera, trends and authentic reactions.
- The ability to take direction quickly and stay patient through repeated takes.
- Hosts: clear, engaging delivery and the ability to learn short scripts or speak comfortably off talking points.
- Reliable and punctual, with a skilled, friendly attitude.
- Based in or near St. John's, with availability for weekday / weekend / early-morning / evening shoots.
- Excellent communication skills in English.

Nice to have

- Previous commercial, lifestyle, hospitality or UGC work.
- Experience on camera for social media (your own channels count).
- A special skill that suits our spaces, such as mixology, cooking, yoga, fitness, swimming or music.
- Voice-over experience.
- Agency representation is welcome but not required. A large social following is not required.

Compensation

$100–$300 per full day, plus parking, mileage, meals on shoot days

Usage & release

Talent release required before each shoot. Content used on organic social, website, paid social ads perpetually. Paid ad usage included.

Wardrobe & styling

Your own wardrobe, following our brief. Wardrobe allowance maybe granted if applicable.

Union / agency

Non-union / ACTRA members welcome under applicable agreements. Represented talent: bookings and rates go through your agency.

Invoicing

Per shoot. You're responsible for your own taxes and HST registration where applicable.
