About the Position

We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and professional Health Care Assistant (HCA) to provide personal care and daily living assistance to a family member in a private home in Calgary, Alberta.

The ideal candidate will be patient, trustworthy, respectful, and committed to maintaining the individual’s dignity, comfort, independence, and quality of life.

This is a permanent, full-time, live-in position offering private accommodation, a predictable work schedule, and a supportive family environment.

Work Schedule

* 40 scheduled working hours per week.
* A consistent and predictable work schedule will be established with the successful candidate.
* Two scheduled days off per week.
* Live-in accommodation provided.
* Occasional urgent assistance may be required outside scheduled working hours.
* Any additional work, including assistance outside scheduled hours, will be handled in accordance with applicable employment standards and the agreed employment arrangement.
* Routine overnight care is not required unless specifically agreed upon.

The caregiver is expected to maintain appropriate communication with the family regarding care needs and any changes in the individual’s condition.

Key Responsibilities

Personal Care

* Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene.
* Provide assistance with toileting and other daily living activities as required.
* Support mobility, walking, and transfers when needed.
* Respect the individual’s privacy, preferences, and independence.

Daily Living Assistance

* Assist with meal preparation and feeding, if required.
* Perform light housekeeping related to the individual’s care.
* Help maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable home environment.
* Provide companionship, conversation, and emotional support.





Health and Safety

* Observe and report changes in the individual’s physical condition or well-being.
* Follow established care instructions and safety procedures.
* Respond appropriately to urgent situations and contact emergency services when necessary.
* Maintain strict confidentiality regarding personal and medical information.

Qualifications and Requirements

* Health Care Assistant (HCA) certificate or equivalent relevant qualification.
* Current First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
* Previous caregiving or personal care experience is an asset.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Compassionate, patient, dependable, and professional.
* Ability to work independently and follow care instructions.
* Respect for confidentiality, personal boundaries, and family privacy.

Compensation and Benefits

* $20.00 per hour for scheduled working hours.
* Approximately $800 per week for 40 scheduled hours, before deductions.
* Private live-in accommodation provided.

Applicable vacation pay, general holiday entitlements, and other employment standards will be provided in accordance with Alberta legislation.
