Senior Structural Engineer – Edmonton Area Expansion

Develop a local presence in Edmonton with the support of a nationally established multidisciplinary engineering firm.

Parsus Engineering (Parsus) is looking for a Professional Engineer to support the firm’s expansion into Edmonton and its surrounding regions. The ideal candidate enjoys technical work, is passionate about developing client relationships, and is eager to tackle the challenges associated with establishing an office capable of servicing all of Central Alberta.

This position represents an opportunity to be allocated the independence and decision-making power of an entrepreneur while capitalizing upon the infrastructure, resources, and professional capabilities of an established and highly experienced firm. You'll have the support of Parsus' engineering teams, technical resources, proposal and marketing services, and administrative systems.

In addition to business development and client acquisition activities, you will design, oversee, and coordinate structural engineering work across various regions and sectors. You will work collaboratively alongside a large multidisciplinary team to ensure the timely delivery of reliable, resilient, and long-term solutions to our clients. You will provide critical leadership and mentoring to our existing complement of junior engineers and technologists throughout project delivery.

Responsibilities

- Lead and coordinate structural design work for small, medium and large multi-disciplinary projects.
- Review, edit, modify and approve structural engineering work.
- Prepare engineering studies, designs, cost estimates, specifications, and contract documents
- Prepare planning schedules for the resources and completion times of assigned projects, monitor actual resource usage and deadlines, and act proactively to prevent cost overruns and schedule delays.
- Collaboratively resolve technical challenges and navigate project requirements with clients, contractors,



and regulatory officials.
- Support electrical, mechanical, civil and other departments in the development of integrated design documents.
- Conduct site inspections and reviews to assess the progress and quality of the work being performed.
- Provide construction support and contract administration services during project delivery.
- Support efforts to expand Parsus Engineering’s presence and client base throughout the region.
- Develop and maintain robust working relationships with municipalities, developers, and industry stakeholders.

Requirements

- At least 10 years of experience related to building design and structural engineering.
- Current P.Eng. designation with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA), or eligibility to obtain registration.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and a willingness to travel throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Ability to prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Strong knowledge of current regulatory standards and requirements.
- Expertise in communication and coordination with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven ability to work with minimal oversight and demonstrated self-initiative.
- Aptitude for and general understanding of construction methods and procedures.
