FITS | Athletic Development Specialist · 2 positions
We're hiring two Athletic Development Specialists. If you love coaching athletes, want to know why movement works the way it does, and want to grow with a team building something new in sport science, read on.
At FITS, every athlete should know three things: what they're developing, why it matters, and how they'll know they're getting better. You'll be the coach who makes that happen.
What you'll do
- Coach. Design and deliver athletic development sessions for developmental and competitive athletes, in sports like volleyball, basketball, and hockey.
- Assess. Run testing and movement analysis, then turn what you find into clear training priorities.
- Teach. Help athletes understand their results and what a outstanding rep looks and feels like, so they own their training.
- Track. Use HELIX, the FITS athlete operating system, to plan programs, record training, and review progress.
- Collaborate. Work alongside our clinicians and sport science team so each athlete's development stays connected, from the training floor to the treatment room.
How we work
FITS brings Sport, Athleticism, and Mind-Wellness together through our Integrated Sport Performance System (ISPS) and its four connected Services: Sport Performance · Athletic Development and Injury Prevention · Athlete Mastery and Training Readiness · Sports Medicine.
One principle runs through all of it: how we evaluate guides how we develop.
- Understandable: the athlete knows what the session is for and why.
- Measurable: we test, record, and reassess, and we connect the numbers to how the athlete moves and plays.
- Trainable: priorities become purposeful sessions, adjusted to the athlete's readiness and clinical guidance.
What you'll learn
- The FITS Athletic System:
a clear map of how athletes are built, from joint qualities and foundation movements up to speed skills and game speed.
- Profile to program: how to read an athlete's profile and turn it into a plan that works.
- Tools and technology: hands-on testing equipment and HELIX. No prior HELIX experience needed; we'll teach you.
- Integrated care: learn every day from coaches, clinicians, and sport scientists working on the same athletes.
Where you'll contribute
- Shape the system. Bring your coaching ideas, test them, and help them become part of how FITS works.
- Build HELIX. What you see on the floor shapes the tools we're building.
- Be part of the journey. Help athletes move better, perform better, and build habits and confidence they carry into sport and life.
What you bring
- A degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Strength & Conditioning, or a related field
- Experience coaching athletes at developmental and competitive levels
- A strong grasp of biomechanics, movement analysis, and periodized programming
- CSCS, CSEP-CEP, NCCP, or similar certifications (an asset)
- Clear teaching, careful observation, curiosity about data, and a team-first mindset
