Data Scientist:
On behalf of our Business Intelligence client, Procom is searching for a Data Scientist for a 6-month role. This position is a hybrid position with 2 days onsite at our client’s Vancouver office.

Job Description:
This contract opportunity is focused on providing critical role coverage following the resignation of a permanent employee. The Data Scientist will support continuity of operations and key deliverables while the organization completes the approval process for a permanent full-time position and subsequent recruitment activities.

Responsibilities:

- Responsible for development of machine learning and generative/agentic AI products through team collaboration
- Apply leadership and promote value of data science to help make sound safety decisions
- Communicate analytical use cases to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- Collaborate effectively with Business Intelligence analysts to support BI development projects
- Work with multiple, complex data sources such as social media APIs and open source APIs
- Build scalable machine learning and AI solutions, including retrieval-augmented generation
- Design, build, evaluate, implement & test machine learning models and generative/agentic AI solutions

Mandatory Skills:





- Strong background in applying machine learning techniques and generative/agentic AI solutions
- Strong ability in Python and R
- Experience with big data platforms such as Spark
- Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases
- Fluency in open source machine learning and AI frameworks
- Experience with cloud services such as AWS, Azure, or equivalent
- 3-5 years of relevant quantitative and qualitative research and analytics work

Nice-to-Have Skills:

- Experience with natural language processing, large language models, and/or computer vision
- Experience building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures, and data sets
- Solid ability to prototype deployment tools such as web app development
- Experience with agile project management
- Master’s Degree or above in Computer Science, Statistics or Data Science

Assignment Length:
This is a 6-month contract position with the likelihood of extension.

Start Date:
ASAP.

Assignment Location:
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada with hybrid work arrangements requiring 2 days in the office.
