Looking for an individual with a strong background in working with neurodiverse children, in particular ADHD and autism. Part time weekday daytime availability is required. Anticipated weekly hours 16-20, with more possible.

Must have a current police security clearance to work with members of the vulnerable sector as well as current First Aid and CPR.

Must have a reliable vehicle.

Job Overview

- Provide individualized, short-term childcare and support for children with disabilities, helping them participate safely and comfortably in daily activities.
- Create a welcoming, respectful environment that supports each child’s needs, abilities, routines, and family preferences.
- Work collaboratively with families and other care team members to maintain consistent, person-centered support.

Responsibilities

- Supervise children and support their safety and well-being throughout each respite session.
- Assist with age-appropriate activities, play, learning, and daily routines based on the child’s abilities and care plan.
- Use teaching strategies to encourage communication, independence, social interaction, and skill development.




- Adapt activities and instructions to accommodate individual needs, preferences, and abilities.
- Follow family guidance and established procedures for health, safety, and emergency situations.
- Share relevant observations and updates with families while respecting the child’s privacy.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and supportive environment.

Qualifications

- Experience working with children; experience working with individuals with disabilities is strongly preferred.
- Teaching, tutoring, childcare, or related experience is an asset.
- Patient, attentive, dependable, and comfortable adapting to different needs and routines.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work respectfully with children and families.
- Able to follow instructions, maintain appropriate boundaries, and prioritize safety.
- Willingness to learn about each child’s individual support needs and apply guidance consistently.

Pay: $20.00 per hour
