Diemertdale Acres Limited, a modern Dairy Farm and cash crop farm located in Ayton Ontario, is currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Herdspersons to join their dedicated team. They operate a progressive 250-cow dairy in a modern robotic milking facility equipped with the latest technology.

General Overview:

As the Senior Herdsperson, you will be responsible for the daily care and management of the milking herd, and heifers while assisting in overseeing the day-to-day operation of the farm. This role includes monitoring herd health, troubleshooting robotic milking systems, coordinating daily tasks, and working with other team members.

We are looking for a motivated professional who takes pride in their work, has strong leadership and problem-solving skills, and can work independently to ensure the efficient operation of a modern dairy facility.

Working full-time, the successful candidates will be available to work 6:00am to 6:30pm and every other weekend. Hours may vary seasonally and extended hours are required during busy seasons. Must have reliable transportation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

- Daily care and management of dairy cows and heifers.
- Monitor animal health and report concerns promptly.
- Operate upright silo unloaders, conveyors and hammer mills for missing up feed.
- Operate tractors and other farm machinery safely and efficiently.
- Oversee daily farm operations and ensure work is completed efficiently and to a high standard.
- Provide support to other farm staff as required.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on farm equipment and facilities.
- Completed general farm duties, including physical labour and heavy lifting.




- Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.
- Other duties as assigned by owners.

Competencies and Qualifications:

- Must have a valid Ontario Driver’s license and reliable transportation
- At least 2 years of Dairy farm experience is required
- Previous experience overseeing farm operations, including breeding is considered an asset
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including heavy lifting is required
- Post-secondary education in Agriculture or a related field or relevant experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to repair equipment
- Experience operating farm large equipment
- Knowledge of Harvestore silos and hammer mills is considered an asset
- Ability to work independently and lead by example
- Safety conscious and excellent team player
