Job Title: Security Guard - Triage

Employment Type: Full-time

Pay Rate: $19.10/hr

Site: Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital

Schedule: Rotating Continental (0700-1900 / 1900-0700)

Overtime Methodology: Averaging Agreement (overtime applies after 88 hours)

Site Overview

Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital is a modern, high-traffic acute care facility in York Region offering emergency, surgical, medical, mental health, and rehabilitation services. Operating in a fast-paced environment, the security team focuses on patrols, access control, and emergency response to support patient care and maintain a safe environment for all staff, patients, and visitors.

What You'll Be Doing

- Monitor and control entry points to restricted hospital areas to ensure only authorized individuals enter.

- Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including patient rooms, hallways, entrances, exits, and parking areas.

- Operate security cameras and alarm systems, reporting suspicious activity immediately.

- Respond promptly to medical emergencies, security threats, and fire alarms, assisting hospital staff with evacuations and crisis management.

- Greet and assist patients, visitors, and staff with directions while ensuring hospital policies are followed.

- De-escalate tense situations and resolve conflicts calmly and professionally.

- Accurately document daily activities, incidents, and security breaches in formal reports.

- Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to maintain a safe and coordinated setting.

Must Haves

- Valid Ontario Security Guard License.





- Valid First Aid & CPR Level C certification from a WSIB-approved provider.

- High School Diploma or GED.

- Proof of immunization for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella, two doses of COVID-19 vaccine, and a two-step TB skin test.

- Fluency in English, both spoken and written.

- Legal authorization to work in Canada.

- Valid certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB), OR willingness to complete Paladin's pre-employment UOF/MOAB training program prior to onboarding.

Nice-to-Haves

- One year of experience in security or law enforcement.

- Diploma or degree in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services.

- Ability to be clean-shaven to meet N95 mask fit-testing requirements.
