POSITION SUMMARY

Sanitation Staff members are responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene within the facility. They execute cleaning tasks to ensure the facility operates in accordance with food safety standards

Production Equipment & Facility Sanitation

- Clean and de-grease production equipment, including rotary dies, wire cut dies, ingredient pails, dough troughs, buckets, topping machinery, icing toppers, and mesh cooling conveyors.
- Ensure proper sanitation of conveyors and packaging equipment, including allergen control.
- Maintain sanitation of facility lunchroom, change rooms, and all washrooms.
- Clean around and under machinery during production breaks while equipment is idle.
- Immediately clean spills of ingredients (liquid or solid) to prevent contamination throughout the plant.

Floor & Waste Management

- Maintain the production floor, garbage disposal area, and waste dough disposal in a clean state through regular sweeping and mopping.
- Ensure all garbage and scrap containers are emptied by the end of the shift.
- Wash and dry mop floor surfaces, ensuring they are free of clutter.
- Conduct sanitation work outside the plant to clean up spills after bulk ingredients have been delivered.
- Perform snow shoveling duties at employee and shipping/receiving entrances when needed.

Safety & Compliance

- Follow proper handling procedures for sanitation chemicals, including WHMIS requirements.
- Complete and submit all required sanitation forms accurately.




- Ensure adherence to workplace safety guidelines and sanitation protocols.

General Support & Other Duties

- Maintain an exceptional safety record.
- Work independently while paying close attention to small details.
- Assist in additional tasks assigned by the Supervisor or Manager.

Requirements

- Good understanding of proper sanitation methods.
- Ability to perform thorough facility sanitation, including sweeping, mopping, and proper waste disposal.
- Knowledge of WHMIS and experience working with de-greasing agents and sanitizers.
- Positive oral communication skills.
- Excellent physical condition, able to lift and move heavy materials and machinery.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

- Must be comfortable working in a hot environment (Bakery floor)
- Regularly lifting, pushing and moving heavy materials, garbage bins, and cleaning equipment.
- Frequently bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching to clean under machinery and around equipment.
- Working in environments with varying temperatures, including warm production areas and outdoor spaces.
- Performing repeated motions such as sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, and lifting throughout the shift.
- Raising garbage containers into the compactor and lifting scrap food containers into the recycle bin.
- Occasionally performing tasks outside the facility, such as cleaning ingredient delivery areas or shoveling snow.

Pay: $20.76 per hour
