Enoch Civil Construction is a full-service heavy civil contractor working throughout Alberta in both civil and oilfield environments. We operate on three key principles: Service, Safety and Satisfaction. Punctuality, respect for co-workers, well-kept equipment and employee ideas all shape the culture we work to build.
We’re looking for a Civil Estimator to join our estimating team. Reporting to the Estimating Manager, you’ll prepare accurate, competitive estimates for civil earthworks projects. It’s a hands-on role for someone with construction and estimating experience who wants to grow.
What you’ll do
- Review drawings, specifications and contract documents to understand scope, risks and requirements
- Perform quantity takeoffs and do your own calculations: cut/fill, materials, crew and equipment productivity
- Build estimates covering labour, equipment, materials, trucking, subcontractors and indirects
- Request, compare and level subcontractor and supplier pricing
- Track addenda and keep estimates current through bid close
- Write clear assumptions, exclusions and clarifications, and flag risks to the Estimating Manager
- Help assemble tender submissions, prequalification documents and bid forms
- Support handover to Operations so the awarded job is set up the way it was priced
- Make sound judgment calls on your own,
and know when to escalate
What you bring
- 2+ years of estimating/coordinating experience, ideally in civil earthworks or heavy construction
- Construction field or project experience is a strong asset
- Comfortable reading drawings and specs and doing your own quantity takeoffs
- Understanding of Unit Price, Lump Sum and T&M; contracts and how each affects pricing and risk
- Strong math, attention to detail and follow-through
- Proficient in Excel and Bluebeam; INEight and MS Project are assets
- Civil Engineering Degree or Technology Diploma or degree an asset, or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of Alberta suppliers, subcontractors and market conditions is an asset
What we offer
- Mentorship from our Estimating Manager and senior team
- A clear growth path toward senior estimating and project roles
- Competitive pay based on experience
- Benefits: dental, vision, extended health, life and disability insurance, and profit sharing
- Versatile schedule, casual dress, company events and on-site parking
Job details
- Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8-hour minimum
- Overtime and weekends as needed around bid closings
- Experience: earthworks or civil estimating, 2 years preferred
Work Location: In person
