Position Title: Casual Healthcare Security Guard

Employment Type: Casual / Contract

Pay Rate: $18.35 - $21.69 per hour

Site: Brockville General Hospital & The Royal Brockville

Schedule: Various 12-hour shifts (07:00–19:00 / 19:00–07:00); flexible availability required for 2 to 3 shifts per week

Overtime Methodology: Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Site Overview

Working across Brockville General Hospital and The Royal Brockville offers a meaningful role in supportive, community-focused healthcare settings. Healthcare security guards help maintain safe, compassionate environments for patients, staff, and visitors. In this role, you will cross-train across both locations, gain diverse operational experience, and reflect Paladin's CARE values: staying curious, being accountable, showing respect, and delivering exceptional service.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Casual Healthcare Security Guard, you will support site safety and assist healthcare teams in day-to-day operations. Your main duties include:

- Conducting regular interior and exterior foot patrols across facility grounds in all weather conditions.

- Monitoring and supervising patients as required by healthcare staff.

- Responding calmly to emergency situations and calls for assistance.

- Applying conflict management and verbal de-escalation techniques to handle challenging interactions safely.

- Investigating routine incidents and writing clear, accurate incident reports and end-of-shift logs.

- Enforcing facility policies, parking rules, smoking regulations, and site by-laws.

- Communicating effectively with facility staff, team members, and Paladin management.

- Standing or walking for up to 12 hours per shift.

Must Haves





- Legally authorized to work in Canada.

- Valid Ontario Security Guard License.

- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR Level C certificate from a WSIB-approved provider.

- Complete immunization records (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, Hepatitis B, and Step 1 & 2 TB Skin Tests).

- Proof of a minimum of two COVID-19 vaccinations.

- Ability to transparent a Vulnerable Sector Check during onboarding.

- Ability to be clean-shaven to pass an N95 Mask Fit Test.

- Fluent English communication skills (written and spoken).

- Ability to complete mandatory onboarding and training in Kingston.

- Commitment to position requirements and availability for at least 6 months.

Nice-to-Haves

- 6+ months of customer service experience.

- Current certifications in Use of Force (UoF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB). Note: Candidates without these certifications can take Paladin's UoF/MOAB training prior to onboarding at no cost with a 6-month commitment.
