We are seeking an enthusiastic detail-oriented Machinist Co-op this role you will work closely with our experienced licensed machinists and CNC programmers to gain practical real-world experience in subtractive manufacturing. You will bridge the gap between classroom theory and precision production.
Shift: Day Shift Monday to Friday
Your Role
- Machine Setup & Operation: Assist in setting up and operating manual machines (lathes mills drill presses) and introductory CNC machinery.
- Quality Inspection: Use precision measuring tools (micrometers calipers verniers and indicators) to inspect finished parts against design tolerances.
- Blueprint Reading: Read and interpret technical engineering drawings blueprints and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T;).
- Part Finishing: Deburr clean and prepare machined parts for quality control sign-off.
- Shop Maintenance: Adhere to all safety protocols clean machinery manage coolant levels and organize tooling.
About You
- Current Enrollment: Must be currently enrolled in an accredited program focusing on Machining (e.g. Mechanical Technician - General Machinist Tool & Die or related CNC programming programs).
- Technical Foundations: Basic shop math skills and a foundational understanding of cutting speeds feeds and tooling.
- Software Awareness: Familiarity with CAD/CAM software (e.g. Mastercam SolidWorks) is considered an asset.
- Safety Mindset: Hardworking punctual and strictly committed to wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) like steel-toed boots and safety glasses.
