Position Summary:

Knelsen Sand & Gravel Ltd. is seeking a detail-oriented Purchaser to join our Edmonton team. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, this role is responsible for reviewing purchase requisitions, coordinating with suppliers and internal stakeholders, and ensuring goods and services are received accurately and on time. The Purchaser also supports invoice processing and administration duties as needed.

Responsibilities:

- Review purchase requisitions for goods and services and confirm they meet purchasing procedures and requirements.
- Release approved purchase orders and change orders; request quotations from qualified suppliers and contractors with applicable agreements in place.
- Build productive supplier relationships, negotiate pricing and terms, and monitor delivery, quality, and contractual performance.
- Source direct materials that meet stakeholder requirements while improving value, cost, and availability.
- Work closely with operations, warehouse, finance, project teams, engineers, consultants, contractors, and suppliers to manage approvals, order status, follow-up, and requisition requirements.
- Maintain accurate purchasing, pricing, receiving, purchase order, and supplier records, including the vendor and supplier database.
- Support accounts payable by helping ensure invoices can be processed accurately and promptly.




- Contribute to purchasing process improvements that strengthen efficiency, service quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Identify and address procurement risks related to supplier performance, market conditions, and supply disruptions.
- Provide administration support as required..

Qualifications & Requirements:

- Previous experience in a purchasing role, with solid knowledge of procurement processes, negotiation, and cost analysis.
- Solid organization and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on commitments.
- Clear, professional communication and relationship-building skills with both suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Sound judgment and problem-solving ability when responding to supply, delivery, pricing, or documentation issues.
- Comfortable working with purchasing records, reports, and supplier information in a structured, accurate manner.
- A collaborative approach and commitment to supporting safe, reliable operation.
- Strong ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a high-stress environment
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in data entry and order management
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and experience with Microsoft Business Central

Additional Information:

- This is not a remote position and is based out of our Edmonton office. The successful candidate will be required to work in-office.
- Candidates must have the ability to work overtime and weekends as required during the peak season to support operational needs.
