Automation & PLC Specialist

Simmtech Processing Solutions Simmtech Processing Solutions is seeking an experienced Automation & PLC Specialist to join our Engineering Team. Reporting to the Automation Manager, this role plays a key part in designing, programming, testing, and commissioning automation systems for fluid and liquid processing applications.

This position works closely with Project Managers, Mechanical Engineers, Operations, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality automation solutions. The ideal candidate is a hands-on automation professional with strong PLC programming experience, leadership skills, and a passion for solving complex technical challenges.

What You'll Do

- Program, configure, and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems using Allen Bradley, Omron, and Siemens platforms.
- Design, develop, and optimize HMI interfaces.
- Create, interpret, and modify logic diagrams, process flow diagrams, electrical schematics, and control system documentation.
- Test, troubleshoot, and commission automated systems both in-house and at customer sites.
- Lead technical aspects of assigned projects and support project execution, scheduling, and customer communications.
- Develop engineering standards, processes, and best practices for automation projects.
- Conduct system audits, performance evaluations, and technical studies, providing recommendations for improvement.




- Prepare project documentation, electrical drawings, reports, and closeout materials.

What We're Looking For

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in automation, controls engineering, or a similar role.
- Strong experience programming PLCs and HMI systems.
- Knowledge of Allen Bradley, Omron, and/or Siemens automation platforms.
- Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics and control drawings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD or similar design software.
- Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
- Proven ability to lead technical projects and collaborate across teams.
- Ability and willingness to travel to customer locations for system startup and commissioning.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
- Ability to use hands and arms for typical engineering and technical tasks.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to meet vision requirements including close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
- Must be able to wear required PPE, including safety glasses and steel-toe boots.
