LEGAL COUNSEL (Ottawa/Ontario – Remote)

You would be joining a collaborative legal team that includes five other lawyers as well as privacy and regulatory professionals. Most of our lawyers are located in Ottawa and despite working remotely, meet in person from time to time during the year. TekSavvy offers competitive salaries and benefit packages.

The Role

We are looking for a commercial lawyer to join our busy legal team. Working under the direction of the Director, Legal Affairs and other senior members of the Legal, Regulatory & Public Policy team, you will, as needed:

- Review, draft, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements.
- Provide practical legal advice to internal teams (e.g., operations, business-services teams, and marketing) regarding commercial, privacy, and other legal matters.
- You will manage your own matters while also supporting more complex files under the supervision of senior counsel, interact directly with internal clients across the business, and have regular exposure to senior management.




- Assist on other legal matters.

This would be a great role for a junior lawyer who has worked in house or in a firm for a couple of years and who is used to some autonomy. Our senior commercial lawyers are also excellent mentors and take that role seriously.

Mandatory Requirements

- An LL.B. or J.D. and membership in the Law Society of Ontario in good standing.
- 2-3 years of commercial legal experience.

Experience drafting contracts is key to us.

- Excellent communication skills (written and spoken English).
- Excellent organization and attention to detail.
- An interest in technology.
- As this is a remote role, the successful candidate is responsible for providing their own suitable home workspace in Ontario.
