Onni Group of Companies
Vancouver
Job Description
ONNI Group is hiring a Vice President of Marketing in Vancouver, BC | This is corporate branding, not a real estate marketing position.
This is a corporate branding role: a two-part brand mandate across our venture capital, real estate, hospitality, and technology portfolio: build our newer brands — our venture capital initiatives, Level Hotels & Furnished Suites, Capo & The Spritz, Solette, Fora, Dialtone, and Grey Owl — into brands people seek out in their own right, and take the Onni name itself from well known here in Vancouver to a genuine household name across North America. This is a hands-on brand leadership role, not a maintenance one: you'll lead a 10–20 person marketing department, bring a new-age, technology-forward mindset, and set the standard for how a diversified, privately-owned company scales brand recognition across an entire portfolio.
For over half a century, we’ve been building communities for people to live, work, and play — spanning real estate development and construction, commercial property ownership and management, hospitality, and a growing presence in venture capital and technology. Our expertise reaches across major North American cities including Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, Phoenix, Toronto, and Vancouver. To date, we’ve developed, built, and now own or manage well over 50 million square feet of residential, office, retail, and industrial space — including more than 15,000 homes and 11,200 rental apartments — with another 28 million square feet underway across our markets. Employing thousands of people across North America, Onni continues to diversify beyond our real estate roots, including through Grey Owl, our technology company delivering managed IT, AI-driven security, and smart building solutions to commercial properties across North America.
In 2009, Onni entered the hospitality space with Level Hotels & Furnished Suites, and our portfolio has since grown to various hotels in Vancouver, Chicago, and Seattle, with plans to add and grow more. We’ve also expanded into dining, with restaurant concepts including Capo & The Spritz and Solette in Vancouver and Chicago, Fora in Chicago’s Fulton Market, and Dialtone, our coffee-by-day, wine-by-night concept.
At Onni, you’ll learn from experienced professionals across every part of our business, take on real responsibility early, and have clear room to grow — whether your path is in commercial real estate, hospitality, or the technology and innovation shaping what comes next.
Perks & Benefits
Onni operates a full-time, work-from-the-office culture — vibrant, dynamic, and fun, with an open floor plan built on our belief in the strength of in-person interaction and collaboration. Employees also enjoy three days a month of work-from-home flexibility, along with an exciting calendar of employee events throughout the year — including quarterly team-building events, Pemberton trips, summer boating days, sports day, an annual holiday party, watch parties for major sporting events like FIFA and the Olympics, and other seasonal celebrations throughout the year, plus early office closures before statutory holidays and weekends, along with regular office events like food trucks and local favorites, and the following perks and benefits::
- Competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package.
- Benefits include company-paid extended health care, dental care,
vision care, life insurance, critical illness, and critical life insurance.
- Annual education allowance.
- Generous referral program.
- Fun and collaborative company culture with lots of team-building events.
- Local discounts at restaurants, clothing stores, personal training, and more.
- Free access to a fully equipped gym.
- Friends and Family rates for hospitality brands.
What You Will Do
Here's what that looks like day to day:
- Lead brand strategy and growth for Onni's portfolio of newer brands — our venture capital initiatives, brands, and companies, Level Hotels & Furnished Suites, Capo & The Spritz, Solette, Fora, Dialtone, and Grey Owl — taking each from relatively unknown to recognized and sought-after in its category.
- Lead the strategy to expand Onni's own corporate brand beyond its strong regional recognition into a genuine household name across North America.
- Develop distinct brand identities and positioning for each portfolio brand while ensuring they connect back to Onni's overall reputation and values.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a marketing department of 10–20 people, setting clear goals, building capability, and fostering a high-performance, creative, and collaborative culture.
- Champion the adoption of AI and emerging marketing technologies across the department — from content generation and personalization to data analytics, audience targeting, and performance measurement.
- Set and drive social media, content creation, and brand storytelling strategy across platforms for each brand, ensuring every piece of content tells a compelling story and each voice is distinct, modern, and culturally relevant.
- Partner with senior leadership and brand/business leads across hospitality, dining, technology, venture capital, and real estate to align brand strategy with business objectives in each vertical.
- Oversee brand identity systems, guidelines, and creative standards across the portfolio, ensuring quality and consistency across every market and touchpoint.
- Lead public relations, communications, and reputation management efforts for both the flagship Onni brand and its sub-brands, building visibility and credibility in new and existing markets.
- Manage relationships with external agencies, production partners, and vendors, ensuring work delivered meets brand and quality standards.
- Own the marketing department's budget, prioritizing investment across brands, channels, and campaigns based on impact and ROI.
- Track and report on brand health metrics — awareness, sentiment, engagement, and share of voice — for each brand, and use data and consumer insight to continuously refine strategy.
- Stay ahead of marketing, branding, and technology trends, bringing fresh, new-age thinking into how the company builds and scales multiple brands at once.
What You Will Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field; MBA or advanced marketing credential considered an asset.
- 10+ years of progressive brand marketing experience, including significant time in a senior leadership role directing brand strategy at an organizational level.
- A proven, demonstrable track record of taking a brand — ideally more than one — from relatively unknown to widely recognized within its category, with measurable results to show for it.
- Experience growing brand awareness for an already-established company or flagship brand, expanding its reach and recognition into new or broader markets.
- Experience leading and developing a marketing department of 10–20+ people, with excellent people-leadership, coaching, and team-building skills.
- Comfort managing a portfolio of distinct brands simultaneously, balancing individual brand identities with a cohesive overall strategy.
- Strong, hands-on familiarity with AI-powered marketing tools and MarTech platforms (e.g., generative AI content tools, marketing automation, CRM/analytics platforms) and a track record of applying them to drive real results.
- Deep expertise in social media strategy, digital-first content creation, and brand storytelling, with a sharp sense of what drives engagement, cultural relevance, and shareability today.
- A robust strategic and analytical mindset, comfortable using brand health data, consumer insights, and campaign performance metrics to guide decisions.
- Experience overseeing public relations, communications, and reputation management, ideally including media relations and executive visibility.
- Experience managing external creative, PR, and media agencies, with robust vendor negotiation and budget management skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- A genuinely new-age, forward-thinking approach to brand building — someone who tracks where marketing, technology, and culture are heading, not just where they've been.
We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted. No phone calls please.
