A Snapshot of Your Day
As the Application Lead for Grid Lifecycle Services in Canada, you will provide local senior technical leadership across the full service-business lifecycle, from opportunity development and bid management through project execution and long-term customer support. You will translate customer needs and asset challenges into competitive, technically sound lifecycle-service solutions, guide execution teams through complex technical decisions, and represent the technical perspective in portfolio, investment, and growth-strategy discussions. Supporting local sales, proposal management, engineering, project management, field service, supply chain, and other key stakeholders, you will also lead interfaces with global engineering experts, fostering a collaborative culture focused on safety, quality, customer value, and continuous improvement.
How You’ll Make An Impact
- Support the technical development of complex GLS opportunities in Canada, including review of customer specifications, site and asset requirements, solution architecture, scope definition, assumptions, exclusions, risk identification, technical clarifications, cost inputs, and bid strategy.
- Act as the local senior technical lead from bid handover through execution, ensuring that the proposed solution is translated into clear engineering, procurement, field-service, testing, commissioning, documentation, and acceptance requirements.
- Guide multidisciplinary teams in resolving technically complex or cross-functional issues involving high-voltage transmission assets, including FACTS, HVDC, substations, protection and control, automation, auxiliary systems, and related lifecycle services.
- Engage directly with customers as a trusted technical representative, clarify needs,
explain solution trade-offs, support technical negotiations, and maintain alignment on safety, quality, performance, schedule, and lifecycle value.
- Represent the technical perspective in Canadian GLS strategy, portfolio, localization, capability-development, partner, and investment discussions, using market and execution insights to identify service-growth opportunities and capability gaps.
- Build organizational capability by mentoring engineers and technical specialists, establishing reusable technical standards and proposal content, capturing lessons learned, and driving improvements that reduce risk, non-conformance costs, and execution variability.
- Interface with global key stakeholders and engineering experts, representing local Canadian business.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering discipline; a professional engineering designation in Canada, or eligibility to obtain one, is an asset.
- Significant senior-level experience in high-voltage transmission, grid technologies, or lifecycle services, with demonstrated technical leadership across both tendering and project execution.
- Practical knowledge of one or more relevant technology areas, such as FACTS, HVDC, substations, protection and control, power-system automation, high-voltage equipment, testing, commissioning, maintenance, repair, retrofit,
modernization, or long-term service programs.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret customer specifications and electrical drawings, develop technically and commercially viable scopes, challenge assumptions, assess risks, and communicate complex topics clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong leadership, collaboration, and influencing skills, with the judgment to make decisions in ambiguous situations and align sales, engineering, project, field-service, supply-chain, global, and customer stakeholders.
- Commitment to environmental, health, safety, security, quality, and regulatory requirements, along with the ability to travel within Canada and internationally as business needs require; skilled fluency in English is required, and French is an asset.
About The Team
Grid Lifecycle Services supports customers throughout the operating life of critical grid assets. The Canadian team brings together bid management, engineering, project management, field service, supply chain, and interfaces with global teams to deliver maintenance, repairs, upgrades, modernizations, diagnostics, commissioning, and long-term service solutions. The Application Lead will connect these capabilities, strengthen technical governance across the opportunity-to-execution lifecycle, and help shape the future growth of GLS in Canada.
