Job Description Job Description:

This is a hybrid tax-and-technology role: you will bring tax and reporting work in-house, take ownership of deliverables currently handled by external consultants, and build the data and reporting tools our Tax team relies on.

Position Description

We are looking for a curious, hands-on person who sits comfortably between tax and data. You understand how tax and financial data works, and you have enough SQL and coding skills to turn it into reliable reports, models and tools.
Your main mission is to internalize our tax development and reporting. You will work directly with external consultants, understand what they deliver today, and progressively take that work over. You will partner closely with the Tax, Finance and Data Platform teams, who will support you on the deeper engineering side.
This is a full-time, office-based position in Montreal, Quebec, reporting to the Tax Department and working in close collaboration with our Data and Business Intelligence teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Act as the main point of contact for external tax consultants: understand their processes and deliverables, ask the right questions, and lead the transition of that work in-house.
- Build and maintain tax data pipelines between our source financial systems and tax reporting tools, using SQL and Python on our Snowflake data platform.
- Automate our global tax compliance and reporting processes, including T1134, T106, Form 5472, Country-by-Country Reporting and Pillar Two reporting.
- Develop reporting on external advisor engagements, budgets, actual costs and variance analysis across portfolios and jurisdictions.

- Support the continued development and automation of our tax provision and reporting processes in Oracle TRCS.
- Over time, build on the TRCS provision process to improve tax forecasting and planning, including visibility into expected tax expense, cash taxes and other tax data across the group.
- Gather requirements from Tax and Finance stakeholders and translate them into explicit, practical data and reporting solutions.
- Model, clean and reconcile tax and financial data from multiple entities and source systems (e.g., NetSuite).
- Implement data quality checks and reconciliations so tax-critical numbers can be trusted.
- Identify and automate other manual tax processes, including using AI tools where they save time (document processing, classification, anomaly checks).
- Build lightweight internal tools and reports that put curated data in the hands of the Tax team.
- Work with the Data Platform team on pipelines, integrations and best practices (Git, code review, documentation).
- Document processes, models and reports so knowledge stays inside Valsoft.

Required/Minimum Qualifications

- 3 years of experience in tax, finance, accounting or data analytics roles.
- A working foundation in tax and/or finance: tax data, financial statements, compliance reporting or ERP data.
- Working knowledge of tax forms such as T1134, T106 and Form 5472, with a high-level understanding of jurisdictional tax implications.
- Solid SQL skills and working knowledge of Python or another programming language.
- Strong communication skills, with the confidence to work with external consultants, challenge their work, and explain technical topics to non-techni
