We’re Hiring: Surety Product Owner

Location:
Mississauga, Ontario, Canada We are looking for an experienced Surety Product Owner to support the delivery of business capabilities across a Global Surety platform. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of Surety domain knowledge, Agile Product Ownership, business analysis, and stakeholder management skills.

Key Responsibilities
• Collaborate with Surety business stakeholders across Underwriting, Operations, Billing, and Product teams to understand business requirements and priorities.
• Translate business needs into well-defined features, user stories, business rules, and acceptance criteria.
• Maintain, refine, and prioritize the product backlog based on business value, dependencies, and delivery timelines.
• Participate in PI Planning, sprint planning, sprint reviews, demos, and backlog refinement sessions.
• Support the Surety bond lifecycle, including new business, endorsements/riders, renewals, cancellations, and reinstatements.
• Work closely with developers, QA engineers, architects, and Product Leaders to clarify requirements and resolve functional issues.
• Support system integrations involving APIs, core Surety platforms, billing systems, and downstream applications.
• Assist with integration testing, defect resolution, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT). Required

Qualifications:




• Minimum 2 years of experience in Surety, Commercial Insurance, Specialty Insurance, or a related business domain.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, Product Analyst, or in a similar Agile role.
• Working knowledge of the Surety bond lifecycle and common bond types.
• Experience writing features, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies; SAFe and PI Planning experience is an asset.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar Agile delivery tools.
• Basic understanding of APIs, JSON, data flows, and system integrations.
• Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder collaboration skills. Nice to Have:
• Exposure to Contract Surety and Commercial Surety products.
• Knowledge of rating, premium calculations, billing, co-surety, international guarantees, or financial transactions.
• Experience coordinating across multiple Product Owners and cross-functional delivery teams. ? Interested or know someone who would be a good fit?
