Job Description

As an EW Specialist, you will support the development of electronics threats mission libraries utilized in naval applications to confuse and disrupt RF-based systems as part of anti-air defense systems. You will build and analyze simulated scenarios involving radar, EO/IR sensors, jammers, decoys, chaff, and threat systems. Additionally, you will perform verification and validation, technical documentation, and support field or sea trials as required.

As an EW Specialist, you will support the development of electronics threats mission libraries utilized in naval applications to confuse and disrupt RF-based systems as part of anti-air defense systems. You will build and analyze simulated scenarios involving radar, EO/IR sensors, jammers, decoys, chaff, and threat systems. Additionally, you will perform verification and validation, technical documentation, and support field or sea trials as required.

Responsibilities

- Review technical data from classified and unclassified sources to assess system characteristics and performance.
- Apply first-principles mathematical modeling to derive and estimate system parameters.
- Build and refine parametric system models.
- Develop simulations involving interactions between naval platforms and threat systems.
- Conduct Monte Carlo simulations and analyze results.
- Verify and assess models to ensure they accurately represent expected system behavior.
- Prepare technical documentation summarizing simulation methods and results.

Essential Skills

- 5-10 years' experience in an RF-related field (radar, antenna, electronic warfare, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of radio frequency (RF) theory.
- Experience running simulations with MATLAB/Simulink.




- Secret Level II clearance to start.
- Experience in radar system and/or antenna design and analysis.
- Experience in electronic warfare system and/or electronic support measures design and analysis.
- Knowledge of electronic attack and electronic protection concepts and systems.
- Experience working on military systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- RF, Radio frequency, RF theory, Radio frequency theory.
- Jamming, EMC, decoy, chaff.
- EW, digitized radar.

Work Environment

The position is embedded at the Naval Electronic Warfare Centre (NEWC) in Ottawa, Canada, and involves working five days a week in a highly confidential environment. You will report to and collaborate with a Department of National Defense (DND) employee. This role offers an opportunity to support the Royal Canadian Navy by developing models used to defend against air missiles. Long-term employment opportunities are available as a contractor and/or full-time employee.

Pay And Perks

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $80.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
