Lead state estimation and modern C++ development at Ribbit in a hybrid Greater Toronto Area role supporting autonomous aircraft field tests.
As a Senior State Estimation Engineer, you will shape the estimation stack for autonomous airplanes. The work combines probabilistic estimation, GNSS/INS integration, sensor fusion, and vision-based navigation. You will collaborate with navigation, controls, hardware, and flight-test teams while mentoring junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead estimation architecture, roadmap, design reviews, and code quality
- Develop estimators for aircraft state, wind, air data, and terrain height
- Build GNSS-denied navigation using vision and alternative sensors
- Own aircraft sensor selection, calibration, synchronization, and health monitoring
- Deploy quality metrics and integrity monitoring for downstream users
Requirements:
- Engineering, computer science, robotics, or related university degree
- State estimation or navigation software experience on real hardware
- Up-to-date C++ on Linux with Eigen and estimation or vision libraries
- Experience with inertial navigation, GNSS/INS integration, and sensor calibration
- Eligibility for Government of Canada security clearance and Controlled Goods assessment
Apply state estimation, C++, sensor fusion, and autonomous navigation expertise to Ribbit aircraft systems in the Greater Toronto Area.
