As a Pharmacy Assistant, you assist the Pharmacist with technical prescription-filling and administrative duties. You help increase the Pharmacist’s chance to provide patient care while participating in pharmacy operations. The position includes prescription assessment, computer functions, inventory control, and customer service. You also support over-the-counter operations when assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive prescriptions and assess completeness under provincial requirements
- Process patient information, refills, pricing, and prescription data
- Fill prescriptions under Pharmacist supervision and complete accuracy checks
- Maintain inventory, orders, shelves, and expired medication checks
- Keep the dispensary organized and support clerical administration
Requirements:
- Must be at least 16 years old
- Ability to interpret written prescriptions and Latin abbreviations
- Ability to recognize drug names and calculate dosages
- Ability to perform computer functions as directed
- Ability to support customer service and pharmacy operations
