We are seeking a skilled and motivated 2nd-3rd Year Apprentice Heavy Truck Tech to join our team. Located on the west end of Edmonton for the past 35 years, we are a well established and fully equipped truck shop.
This apprenticeship offers hands-on experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining all sorts of heavy trucks and equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in mechanical systems, electrical components, and heavy equipment operation, with a desire to develop advanced skills in repair and maintenance.
Duties
- Assist in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on heavy trucks and industrial equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks.
- Use hand tools, power tools, schematics, and diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot and repair various systems
- Operate heavy machinery safely at all times.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure safety and efficiency during all tasks.
- Maintain neat and organized paperwork documenting time and labour activities throughout the day.
- Working effectively on your own or as part of a team, must be flexible throughout the day to changing jobs and the needs of our customers.
Experience
- Experience in repair and maintenance of heavy equipment is required.
- Familiarity with heavy truck and trailer systems will be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems, welding techniques, electrical systems, and diagnostic equipment is advantageous.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate heavy machinery or industrial equipment as needed. Training on proper and safe operation of equipment will be provided.
- Robust mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret technical manuals will be considered an asset.
To help us gauge your hands-on experience, qualified applicants will be asked to complete a practical skills assessment. Pay: $25.00-$34.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
