About Redstone Family Law

Redstone Family Law is a new family law practice in Red Deer built with a clear purpose: to provide thoughtful, strategic, and compassionate legal services to people navigating some of the most important challenges in their lives.

Our motto is simple

We see people, not files.

We believe excellent legal representation combines legal knowledge, strategic thinking, compassion, and a genuine commitment to the people we serve. Family law is about more than legal documents, court appearances, and negotiated settlements. It is about helping people navigate uncertainty, protect what matters most, and move forward with confidence.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Family Lawyer to join our growing practice through a performance-based fee-split arrangement.

This opportunity is designed for a lawyer who enjoys practising family law, values meaningful client relationships, and wants greater professional autonomy within a supportive firm.

You do not need to bring a book of business or find your own clients. Redstone provides opportunities to work on firm-generated files, allowing you to focus on practising law, serving clients, and managing your caseload rather than worrying about where the next client will come from.

You will have the opportunity to manage your own matters, exercise independent professional judgment, and benefit from the firm's marketing, administrative infrastructure, technology, and business development efforts.

Why Join Redstone Family Law?

A Fee-Split Model That Rewards Your Work: Earn through a performance-based compensation structure tied to the fees generated by your work. Our model is designed to reward productivity, quality service, and skilled contribution while providing access to the resources of an established firm.

You do not need to build your own client base to succeed in this role. Redstone generates business and provides opportunities to work on firm-generated family law matters. You can concentrate on delivering excellent legal services instead of spending your time searching for clients.

Professional Autonomy: Manage your matters and organize your work with a high degree of independence. We value lawyers who can take ownership of their files, exercise sound judgment, and deliver results without unnecessary micromanagement.

Support to Help You Practise Effectively: Benefit from the firm's administrative processes, practice-management software, billing infrastructure, technology, and operational support. Our goal is to minimize unnecessary administrative burdens so you can focus on your clients and legal work.

A Collaborative and Growing Firm: Join a firm that values initiative, integrity, continuous improvement, and teamwork. As Redstone grows, there will be opportunities to contribute ideas, improve systems, mentor others, and take on greater responsibilities.

Flexibility: We recognize that excellent legal work does not always require being in the office every day. Our work arrangements are designed to support flexibility while maintaining effective collaboration, responsiveness, and high standards of client service. You will be required to be in our Red Deer office 3 days a week.

Your Responsibilities:

Manage a caseload of family law matters from initial consultation through resolution.

Provide strategic, practical, and compassionate legal advice to clients.

Handle matters involving separation, divorce, parenting arrangements, child and spousal support, property division, and related family law issues.

Negotiate settlements and represent clients in mediations, dispute resolution processes, and court proceedings.

Conduct legal research and prepare pleadings, affidavits, agreements, briefs, and other legal documents.

Maintain clear and timely communication with clients, opposing counsel, Court and other relevant parties.

Manage deadlines, case strategy, documentation, and billing in accordance with firm's ethical procedures and professional obligations.

Provide client service that reflects Redstone's philosophy of seeing people, not files.

- Work collaboratively with the firm's legal and administrative team to deliver a consistent, high-quality client experience.

What We're Looking For

Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta.

At least two years of hands-on family law experience.

Strong legal research, drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills.

The ability to manage files independently and exercise sound professional judgment.

Excellent communication, organization, and client relationship skills.

A compassionate, practical, and client-focused approach to family law.

A commitment to professionalism, integrity, accountability, and high-quality legal service.

An interest in contributing to a modern law firm that values both excellent legal work and a positive client experience.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who understands that the quality of our work is measured not only by the legal outcome, but also by how our clients are treated throughout the process.

Compensation and Work Arrangement

Compensation: A generous performance-based fee split, with the arrangement discussed during the recruitment process.

Client development: Redstone-generated client opportunities are available. Bringing an existing book of business is not a requirement. With our marketing initiatives, you will be busy and have a flow of consultations.

Work arrangement: Flexible, with hybrid options and access to the firm's office and resources.

Practice support: Administrative infrastructure, legal technology, billing systems, and firm-led business development.
