We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Accounting & Finance team in Calgary. Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, this role is responsible for the consolidation, financial reporting, and accounting activities of ATCO EnPower. This role plays a critical part in the monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting processes, supports derivative and hedge accounting, oversees financial reporting systems, and coordinates internal and external audit requirements to ensure accurate, timely and compliant financial reporting. This is a term position for a 24-month maternity leave .
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and corporate reporting deliverables
Assist with chart of account maintenance
Support complex accounting matters by researching accounting guidance and developing practical solutions for new and evolving business challenges
Partner with external auditors by preparing schedules, documentation and responding to inquiries
University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
- Chartered Qualified Accountant (CPA) designation
- 4 - 7 years of progressive accounting or finance experience
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles, including month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle or similar platforms
- Experience supporting audits and working with external auditors
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables, data analysis, and lookups
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with finance and non-finance stakeholders
- Experience supporting a public-company reporting environment
