About the role

- Meherrin River Regional Jail is looking for a reliable and qualified LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) to care for individuals in our custody.

What you'll do

- Provide direct patient care to incarcerated individuals
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Take vital signs, collect lab specimens, and record patient health data
- Support sick call and assist providers with procedures
- Administer medications and maintain accurate Medication Administration Record (MAR) documentation
- Monitor patient conditions and report changes promptly
- Conduct rounds and document patient progress
- Follow infection control and safety protocols
- Maintain medication security,



including narcotics counts and accountability
- Assist with patient transfers and complete required reports
- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

- Graduate of an approved practical nursing program
- Active LPN license in Virginia, or a multistate (Nurse Licensure Compact) license
- Solid knowledge of nursing care principles and practices
- Ability to recognize signs of mental illness, emotional distress, and substance use disorders
- Proficiency in phlebotomy and administering PPD (TB skin) tests
- [Current CPR/BLS certification]
- [Ability to pass a background check]
