Serenity Transfer Service Ltd. has been providing professional deceased transportation across British Columbia since 2019, supporting hospitals, long-term care facilities, funeral homes, and provincial agencies. Our work is grounded in three guiding principles: Dignity, Excellence, and the Common Good. We are currently seeking steady, calm, and dependable individuals to join our Vancouver Island Team team as on-call Transfer Attendants.

Position Overview In this role, you will attend transfer requests originating from hospitals, care homes, private residences, or investigative authorities. You’ll be responsible for the respectful handling and transportation of decedents, often acting as an early point of contact for families experiencing acute grief.

This line of work is unique. It demands emotional stability, physical capability, and the ability to maintain clear judgment in sensitive situations. In return, the position provides meaningful exposure to fields such as funeral services, forensics, emergency response, healthcare, and paramedicine.

Responsibilities

- Respond promptly to transfer notifications, frequently with minimal notice
- Transport decedents safely, respectfully, and in accordance with company procedures
- Navigate challenging environments such as tight hallways, cluttered spaces, or narrow staircases
- Complete all documentation thoroughly and professionally
- Uphold strict confidentiality at all times
- Offer compassionate, appropriate interaction with families, medical staff, and law enforcement when needed
- Drive throughout Prince George and surrounding areas across BC, including during poor weather or difficult road conditions

Candidate Requirements

- Valid Class 5 ICBC driver’s licence with no restrictions
- Dependable personal vehicle for travelling to designated meeting points
- Ability to lift 150+ lbs independently; capable of assisting with weights up to 300 lbs as a team

- Clear criminal record check (provided by the company at no charge)
- Emotional maturity and strong situational composure
- Comfort working directly with deceased individuals, including in situations involving bodily fluids
- Professional communication skills and a polished demeanor
- Ability to supply required attire: plain black collared shirt, black pants, and closed-toe black footwear or boots

Important Considerations: This occupation involves frequent exposure to end-of-life circumstances. You will encounter deceased persons in a range of conditions, including cases involving trauma, decomposition, or other challenging scenes. Maintaining professional steadiness in these situations is essential. If you’re unsure of your comfort level with this element of the job, this position may not be suitable.

Compensation & Development

- 90-Day Probation: $20.00/hr
- Post-Probation: $25.00/hr
- Criminal record check provided at no cost
- Flexible scheduling that can accommodate other priorities
- Valuable experience within a specialized, highly needed field
- Potential for additional hours as you become more established with the team

Additional Details Work volume varies: some weeks may accumulate 15+ hours, while others may bring only a single, or no, calls. A wider availability offered will likely result in more calls outs, and hours.

This opportunity suits those looking for flexible supplemental income or individuals building toward careers in emergency services, healthcare, funeral work, or related sectors.

A pre-employment aptitude evaluation and an in-person strength assessment are required before progressing. Candidates selected after initial screening will receive the aptitude test link.
