Contrast Heating & Air Conditioning Ltd. is an established commercial and industrial HVAC service contractor based in Pickering, Ontario. We specialize in preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and servicing of commercial and industrial heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment throughout the Greater Toronto Area.

We are looking for a highly experienced, dependable, and motivated Licensed HVAC/R Journeyman to join our team.

The ideal candidate is a skilled service technician with strong troubleshooting abilities, extensive commercial and industrial HVAC experience, and the confidence to diagnose and repair complex mechanical systems independently.

This position is intended for an experienced, fully licensed journeyman, not an entry-level technician or apprentice.

Key Responsibilities

- Diagnose, troubleshoot, service, maintain, and repair commercial and industrial HVAC/R equipment.
- Service rooftop units (RTUs), chillers, boilers, make-up air units, air handling units, split systems, heat pumps, and other mechanical equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, and control system failures.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and emergency service repairs.
- Diagnose and repair refrigerant leaks, compressors, motors, pumps, valves, and associated components.
- Interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Identify equipment deficiencies and recommend appropriate repairs or replacements.
- Complete accurate daily service reports, timesheets, and material documentation.
- Communicate professionally with customers, property managers, building operators, and office staff.
- Follow all applicable health and safety regulations and company policies.




- Participate in scheduled on-call rotation and emergency service when required.

Required Qualifications Applicants must possess the following:

- Valid Ontario 313A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic Certificate of Qualification.
- UA Local 787 membership in valuable standing, or eligibility to join.
- Valid Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) certification.
- Minimum 5 years of commercial/industrial HVAC service experience as a licensed journeyman preferred.
- Extensive hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing commercial HVAC equipment.
- Strong electrical diagnostic and refrigeration troubleshooting skills.
- Valid Ontario driver's licence with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to complete service documentation accurately and promptly.
- Commitment to workplace safety, reliability, and professionalism.

The following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Valid TSSA Gas Technician G1 certification.
- TSSA Gas Technician G2 certification.
- Working at Heights certification.
- WHMIS training.
- Experience with commercial boilers, hydronic heating systems, chillers, and building automation systems (BAS/DDC).
- Experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs), electrical controls,



and advanced HVAC diagnostics.
- Experience servicing large commercial properties, industrial facilities, and institutional buildings.
