Providence Centre is a licensed supportive living and accredited long-term care facility. It was built in 1965 by the Sisters of Providence and is primarily the home of the Sisters. Providence Centre sits on a 25-acre property with beautiful grounds, a chapel, and an oratory to the Mary Mother of Sorrows. Dietary, housekeeping, linen and maintenance services are provided in-house.

Providence Centre is looking for a Full-Time Janitor to perform janitorial duties using powered industrial equipment. Successful candidate will be reporting to the Housekeeping Supervisor.

Job Status: Full-time

Hours of Work: 7.5 hours per shift; Day shift; may work weekends as needed

Job duties include but are not limited to:

- Vacuuming, sweeping, damp/wet mopping, washing, disinfecting, stripping, scrubbing, buffing, and burnishing of all floors, hallways, elevators, and stairwells throughout Providence Centre Complex
- Vacuuming, deodorizing, disinfecting, shampooing and steam cleaning of all carpets throughout Providence Centre Complex
- Wash and disinfect all walls and ceilings
- Clean and disinfect all furniture




- Use appropriate personal protective equipment and supplies when handling infectious/biomedical/contaminated materials and/or hazardous wastes or chemicals
- Follow proper techniques when mixing chemicals, disinfectants and solutions used for cleaning
- Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment in order to prevent damage to floors, walls, furniture or fixtures
- Follow proper infection prevention and control protocols and procedures

Qualifications and Requirements:

- Possess a positive attitude, sincere desire, and ability to deal respectfully and pleasantly with the Sisters, staff and visitors
- At least 1 year of experience in the janitorial field
- WHMIS training is an asset
- Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector
- Must be fluent in English, written and verbal
- Must be able to adapt to different physical environments
