Millwright/Fitter (Assembly)

Currently we are seeking a responsible and hard-working new member to join our Burnaby Facility. This position is for a general shop technician within the 'Fitter’ category of the collective agreement. The focus areas for this role will be within our Manufacturing Shop in the areas of assembly.

How You Will Contribute

Basic responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

- Proficiently fit, assemble, and adjust numbers of diversified parts into subassemblies and finished units
- Know and understand piping drawings and systems, and to build and test these systems per specifications.
- Dismantle and rebuild repairs and product as required
- Improve productivity by anticipating parts needs and providing this information and suggested improvement so product and processes to the supervisor
- Work with and around both customer in-house inspectors and government inspectors in an orderly craftsmanship-like manner
- Train others as required
- Complete all transactions, records, and data collection information timely and accurately.

Qualifications: To succeed in this role you will need,

- High degree of commitment to client service and teamwork
- Experience with engineered products and quality principles an asset




- Previous centrifugal pumps assembly and machining experience an asset
- Ideally 5+ years as a Red Seal Millwright with knowledge on pump manufacturing
- Ability to read and understand work orders, material lists, customer and engineering specifications and other assembly instructions
- Ability to exercise judgement, diplomacy and tact in all interactions, working well with internal/external customers under demanding conditions
- Competence in the use of precision measuring devices and hand tools common to the trade
- Orientation to our company-wide ESH Management System, which includes following all safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures of the Sulzer Safe Behaviour Program.

Additional Qualifications:

- Initiative to perform with minimum supervision
- Capable of working at various heights and around large fabrications
- Ideally 5+ years as a Red Seal Millwright with knowledge on pump manufacturing; at least three years prior experience as trainee or other job related experience in the industry
- Physically able to perform work requiring ability, lifting, pulling, and standing for long hours
- Awareness of the dangers involved with high pressure testing to 10,000 psi
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Capable of working closely with others

This is a permanent position, where you will work within the manufacturing workshop. We offer competitive wages and extended healthcare benefits. Mandatory membership into group pension plan is after three-months. This is a union position and will require shift work. Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $44.05-$49.11 per hour
