Role Description The Junior Software Engineer is a full time hybrid role based in Mississauga, ON, with flexibility for some work from home. This role involves assisting in the design, development, and maintenance of software solutions that support SmartSource’s e-commerce platform and internal systems. Day-to-day tasks include implementing back-end features, fixing bugs, writing clean and efficient code, and collaborating with senior engineers to review code and improve system performance.

Engineer will participate in requirements gathering, documentation, testing,



and deployment activities, while working closely with cross-functional teams such as product, operations, and customer support to ensure reliable, scalable tools that support the refurbished tech lifecycle.

Qualifications

- Strong foundation in Computer Science principles (data structures, algorithms, software design).
- Skills in Software Development and Programming, including writing maintainable, testable code.
- Experience or coursework in Back-End Web Development (APIs, databases, server-side frameworks).
- Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and their application in modern languages.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues, debug code, and learn new technologies quickly.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work in a hybrid team environment.
- Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with web technologies, databases, or e-commerce platforms is an asset.
