Overhead Door Technician Trainee / Installer Assistant

Fahselt Overhead Door Inc. is a small, established, family-owned company specializing in residential, commercial, and industrial overhead doors and operators.

We’re looking for a dependable, mechanically inclined individual who enjoys hands-on work, solving problems, and learning new skills.

Previous overhead door experience is not required. We’re willing to train the right person.

You’ll begin by working alongside an experienced technician, learning the installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead doors and operators. Our goal is to develop someone who can eventually work confidently and independently as a qualified member of our team.

What You’ll Be Doing

- Assisting with residential and commercial overhead door installations, maintenance, and repairs.
- Learning to install and service door hardware, springs, tracks, operators, and related equipment.
- Measuring, assembling, drilling, fastening, and adjusting mechanical components.
- Preparing and organizing tools, materials, equipment, and job sites.
- Working safely with ladders, lifts, power tools, and other equipment.
- Completing timesheets, job notes, and required safety documentation.
- Developing troubleshooting and problem-solving skills through hands-on experience.

- Works well with others but is motivated to become more independent.
- Is comfortable working at heights and in varying weather conditions.
- Can safely perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and handling materials weighing up to 80 lbs.
- Has a valid Class 5 driver’s licence and an acceptable driver’s abstract.
- Has reliable transportation to and from work.

Experience That Would Be an Asset Experience in any of the following areas would be beneficial:
- Carpentry, construction, or building maintenance.
- Automotive, agricultural, or industrial mechanics.
- Garage door installation, service, or repair.
- Electrical troubleshooting or operator installation.
- Experience operating aerial work platforms.

Safety certifications such as CSTS, Fall Protection, Aerial Work Platforms, and First Aid are also assets. Don’t have all these qualifications? If you’re mechanically inclined, dependable, and genuinely interested in learning, we’d still like to hear from you.

Our typical workday is approximately 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some days may require additional hours or travel depending on job requirements. Overtime and eventual on-call opportunities may be available. Interested?
