The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) will use the nursing process in providing patient care to surgical patients in the role of scrub nurse in all services. The RPN will participate as a member of the surgical team including perioperative role in all services. The RPN will participate actively in the patient’s perioperative experience advocating for the patient while working within an interprofessional team environment.The RPN practices according to the College of Nurses of Ontario standards of practice in keeping with the policies, procedures and standards of Halton Healthcare.

Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario required Evidence of good technical operating room skills that adhere to AORN/ORNAC standards of practice for a scrub nurse role Demonstrated ability to prioritize and complete assignments reflecting the Operating Room standards of practice for an RPN in the scrub role Ability to perform in an emergency situation appropriately Able to transfer,



turn and lift patients both manually and with mechanical aides The ideal candidate is strong in patient centered care in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment and should be ready to drive change and innovation. We require a person with good communication skills with a clear patient focus with the ability to manage execution and to foster teamwork and cooperation.
