Kumon is the world's largest after-school Math and Reading program. At the Kumon Math and Reading Centre of Peterborough, we are committed to helping children unlock their full academic potential using the Kumon Method of Learning.

We are seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and patient individuals, including high school and university students (preferably those pursuing education-related fields), who are passionate about working with children and fostering their academic growth. Candidates enrolled in Teachers College, particularly with a background or interest in special education, are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities and Duties

- Work one-on-one or with up to two students (ages 3+) at a time.
- Assist students with their classwork, including: - Following directions and developing independent work habits. - Letter sounds and reading fluently. - Identifying and writing numbers correctly.
- Observe and report student progress and challenges to the Instructor and parents.
- Encourage and motivate students by providing constructive feedback.




- Grade worksheets accurately and efficiently.
- Prepare student files and pull worksheets for upcoming sessions.
- Record classwork and homework scores in the system.
- Support other staff members and assist with general center operations during downtime.

Qualifications and Skills

Applicants must

- Demonstrate strong proficiency in Mathematics and English.
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Be quick learners who can multitask effectively.
- Enjoy working with children of all ages and be patient, nurturing, and approachable.
- Be punctual, reliable, and well-mannered, setting a positive example for students.
- Be available Mondays through Thursdays from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM (hours may vary).

Preferred Qualifications:

- Enrollment in Teachers College with an interest or background in special education.

Job Types: Part time, Casual Pay: $17.95-$20.00 per hour
