ADP WFN Payroll Implementation Consultant (Contract, 12 to 15 months)
Start December 2026 or January 2027
$120/hr to $160/hr The engagement
Our client is a multi-site hospitality and real-estate firm with about 2,500 employees and 40 locations in Ontario and Quebec. They are consolidating five payroll platforms (ADP Workforce Now, Dayforce, UKG, Desjardins Employeur D and Nethris) into ADP Workforce Now Comprehensive Services, in phased waves over about a year. A large share of the workforce is unionized under several collective agreements with shift and weekend premiums, hours-based step progressions, in-lieu percentages, multi-employer pension remittances and dues reporting.
Some sites will be in bargaining during the project. The payroll manager has a lean team and is leading the data harmonization herself. She needs a consultant who works alongside her, not above her: someone who can open ADP’s configuration, read it line by line against the collective agreements, find what is mapped wrong, and make ADP fix it.
What you will do
- Review ADP’s build and validation tables (earnings and deduction codes, accumulators, CPP, EI, EHT, WSIB and vacationable flags, premium and overtime rules, GL mapping) against a requirements workbook and union rule matrix, and get the configuration export made a recurring deliverable
- Control data extraction, YTD loads and ROE history (53-week insurable earnings or interim ROEs) from each legacy system, with reconciliation to legacy registers and to CRA and Revenu Québec remittance totals
- Design test scripts and run full-population parallel reconciliations for each wave, with tolerances and exit criteria agreed with ADP in writing before the first run
- Keep a written defect and escalation log with ADP, and write the go/no-go memo for each wave
- Build role-based job aids and training from the live build during parallel, since there is no sandbox
- Run hypercare through the first live cycles, first remittance, first pension and dues files, first ROE and the first consolidated year-end
- Transfer enough knowledge that the in-house team can run without you afterwards
What you need
- Practitioner access to a Canadian ADP Workforce Now company code within the last 12 to 18 months, and at least one Canadian year-end (T4 and RL-1) closed in WFN
- At least one engagement on ADP Comprehensive Services or an equivalent managed payroll tier, with a clear understanding of the client and vendor split under that model
- At least one unionized or healthcare client with premium stacking, hours-based steps and multi-employer pension remittances
- Experience migrating payroll off at least one of Dayforce, UKG, Employeur D or Nethris, including YTD and ROE continuity on a mid-year move
- Ontario payroll; Quebec payroll (RL-1, QPP, QPIP, CNESST) and French are solid assets
- PCP or PLP designation, verifiable through the Payroll Standards Canada registry
- No current or recent (24 months) referral, reseller, partner or employment relationship with ADP. You will be asked to sign an independence declaration.
How we will assess you A 45-minute technical conversation on configuration, parallel run method and managed service mechanics, followed by a two-hour paid work sample: reconcile a mock legacy register against a mock ADP preview register with seeded variances and mark up a draft mapping workbook. We will check references on your hands-on share of past ADP engagements. Candidates whose experience is project management without personal configuration and reconciliation work will not be a fit for this role.
To apply
Send a CV and three lines: the last Canadian year-end you closed in WFN and when, your managed service engagement, and any ADP relationships.
