About the Team The Procurement team reports up to the Operations Manager. This team is responsible for procuring goods and services necessary to support production and manufacturing operations. They are thorough and persistent in finding the best possible solutions for our organization by building and maintaining relationships with vendors in Canada and internationally.

Their work helps ensure we continue to develop quality products for our customers and manage company financial goals. The team is closeknit and works with people across the organization so there are many opportunities to learn and develop your skills.

About the Role





We are seeking a detail-oriented Procurement Specialist who will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, products, services and equipment to support the rest of the Operations team. The Specialist will work with a diverse set of vendors across different geographies to ensure that ECI continues to meet its quality standards through time and cost-effective solutions. Company policies will help guide procurement practices and the Team Lead will coordinate procurement team members.

The ideal candidate is persistent, forward-thinking and can independently manage their workload. Previous experience in this role, or a similar role, is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

- Purchase materials, components, general supplies, specialized tools, and equipment in accordance with ECI’s procurement policies and procedures
- Assess material requirements and ensure timely purchases at the lowest reasonable cost, maintaining quality standards and on-time delivery to support manufacturing operations
- Source vendors, issue RFQs (Requests for Quotations), analyze quotations and select the most suitable suppliers based on pricing, delivery, and quality
- Continuously evaluate the performance of existing suppliers and engage in ongoing negotiations to ensure cost-effectiveness and reliability
- Calculate standard costs and margins before issuing purchase orders to align with financial targets
- Monitor and manage inventory turnover to minimize stock levels without compromising production demands
- Analyze BOM (Bill of Materials)



demands against current stock; identify shortages and expedite orders as required
- Issue blanket purchase orders based on consumption patterns to maintain optimal inventory levels
- Coordinate with the production team to ensure timely material availability for ongoing and upcoming builds
- Arrange international shipments, including ocean freight from China, consolidating LCL (Less than Container Load) shipments to optimize shipping costs
- Follow up on pre-shipment samples and delivery schedules, expediting shipments as necessary to avoid production delays
- Maintain strong vendor and supplier relationships to enhance the company’s sourcing flexibility, reputation, and alternate sourcing capabilities

About You

Qualifications

- Diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related field
- Ability to proficiently speak, read and write English
- 3+ years of experience in purchasing/procurement, preferably in the EMS or electronic manufacturing industry
- Familiarity with sourcing electronic components and industrial supplies
- Experience working with international vendors, shipping logistics and customers documentation
- Proven ability in vendor negotiation, cost analysis and inventory management
- Previous experience with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office (primarily Excel)
- Excellent communication, organization and problem-solving skills
- Comfortability with rapid paced and deadline driven work environment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
