JIn this role, you will help ensure that custom parts—ranging from initial CNC laser cutting and press brake forming to structural welding, precision welding, and powder coating—meet established specifications, quality standards, and customer expectations. You will work closely with manufacturing, engineering, and cross-functional teams to identify quality issues, investigate root causes, and implement effective corrective actions, upholding a commitment to accuracy and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Inspection, Welding Compliance & Production Support

- Comprehensive Inspections: Conduct quality inspections of incoming materials, in-process production (CNC laser cutting, press brake operations and other fabrication steps), and finished products using approved procedures and precision measurement tools.
- Weld Inspection & Compliance: Perform pre-weld fit-up checks, in-process monitoring, and final visual weld inspections. Ensure all welding operations strictly adhere to engineering drawings, weld symbols, and established Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
- Finish Verification: Conduct rigorous inspections of powder-coated finishes, including mil thickness testing, cross-hatch adhesion, gloss verification, and visual defect identification.
- Blueprint Translation: Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, CAD files, and specific weld symbols to establish robust inspection plans.
- Team Leadership: Train, mentor, and schedule shop floor QC inspectors, operators, and supervisors, coordinating quality activities and timelines using effective project management practices.

Analysis, Non-Conformance & CAPA

- Data Analysis: Review production records, inspection results, and other quality data to identify trends, process variations, defects,

and opportunities for improvement across all fabrication stages.
- Issue Resolution: Investigate non-conformance reports (NCRs), customer concerns, and scrap issues across laser cutting, bending, welding, and finishing. Document findings and lead root-cause investigations.
- Corrective Actions: Implement and support Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA). Monitor the effectiveness of these actions and verify that changes successfully meet quality requirements and prevent recurring defects.

Continuous Improvement & Quality Systems (QMS)

- Process Optimization: Partner with manufacturing, CNC programmers, welders, and engineering teams to resolve process issues, reduce scrap rates, optimize weld fixtures, and support broader continuous improvement projects.
- Documentation: Help develop, maintain, and improve quality procedures, standard operating procedures (SOPs), inspection plans, work instructions, and control documentation.
- Audit Management: Support internal and external audits, including the preparation of quality records and follow-up on audit findings.
- Calibration: Maintain and track calibration for all quality measurement tools and gauges (calipers, micrometers, weld gauges, etc.).

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Experience & Education: Relevant degree or technical qualification in quality, engineering, or manufacturing preferred.

Minimum 5 years of quality control experience within a custom metal fabrication environment, including leadership or project management experience.
- Technical Expertise: Strong practical knowledge of fabrication processes (specifically CNC laser cutting, punching, forming, and powder coating) and how process variations impact product quality.
- Welding Knowledge: Deep understanding of MIG/TIG welding processes. Familiarity with standard welding codes (AWS/CWB).
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities, including interpreting data, identifying patterns, and investigating complex quality problems.
- Systems Knowledge: Deep familiarity with QA/QC systems, non-conformance management, root-cause analysis, and CAPA methodologies. Experience supporting continuous improvement or ISO quality management programs is a strong asset.
- Communication: Ability to communicate findings clearly and collaborate effectively across production, engineering, and cross-functional teams.
- Organization: Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through when managing quality records and multiple priorities simultaneously.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

- Ability to work in a dynamic manufacturing and shop floor environment.
- Frequent standing, walking, and occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs.
- Must adhere to all safety protocols and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and weld-safe apparel when applicable.
- Occasional travel to customer sites or supplier facilities for quality audits and inspections.

Pay: $50,000.00-$66,000.00 per year

Perks

- On-site parking
