Care’s mission is to provide comprehensive care and services, including long term care, home care, and regional therapy services, to the people of the Yukon. Reporting to the Supervisor of Therapeutic Services, this position assists in providing goal-oriented programs and services that are tailored to meet the leisure-related needs of residents/clients to achieve the desired quality of life outcomes, as directed by the Recreation Therapist. Education in a relevant field, such as a Recreation Therapy Assistant Diploma, or a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Psychology, or Education. Recent and relevant experience creating, implementing and/or facilitating recreation programming considered an asset. Candidates who have training and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be considered.

Adaptive strategies for accommodating residents with limitations Safe body mechanics while supporting residents in-house and on outings Ability to follow clinical direction through implementation and documentation of interventions and programs as assigned by the Recreation Therapist. You must meet the following conditions before being hired or within the time frame noted: RCMP Security Clearance with Vulnerable Sector Check Standard First Aid and CPR C with AED Food Safe Physical effort including but not limited to pushing wheelchairs, portering Residents, walking and standing for long periods throughout the day. Loading, unloading, securing, and transporting residents in a variety of vehicles Driving vehicles requiring a Class 4 driver’s licence to transport Residents Exposure to animals, infectious agents, second hand smoke and other irritants/allergens. #
