Camp Hurontario, a boys’ summer camp located on a beautiful island of the Georgian Bay, is looking to hire a sailing instructor to join us for the summer of 2027. Leave the city behind and spend the summer teaching your passion to boys aged 5-16 in groups no larger than eight at a time, always assisted by two experienced summer camp counsellors.

Our sailing fleet consists of JY-15s, Bytes, and Lightnings, which campers learn to rig, sail, and/or race in the camp’s waters. The camp’s location among the Thirty Thousand Islands is ideal for creating a varied sailing program for all ages and abilities. Instruct groups from our 9.9 motorboat in the large, sheltered camp bay, or head out to the stronger winds of Twelve Mile Bay and out into the Georgian Bay.

Our tradition of holding sailing races at the end of each summer month rewards campers with the chance to showcase what they’ve learnt in your sailing program, and you would have the chance to organise, judge and present these fun events.

We are looking for a sailing instructor who is comfortable teaching sailing skills, terminologies, knot-tying, rigging, and basic racing techniques. Additionally, we require our sailing instructors to hold a Pleasure Craft Operators License. Further, our sailing instructors should enjoy working with children and have a love for the outdoors.

Join our friendly co-ed staff of 110 to spend the summer making new friends and living with those who share your interest in working with children in a beautiful outdoor environment. Aside from your salary, full accommodation and all meals will be provided by the camp during the work term, which constitutes of June, July and August of 2027.

To apply, please attach or send a CV and cover letter to the camp’s email, addressed to David Freel.
